2) Wheeler Dealers Restored 1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible C3. This Corvette was restored on the TV show Wheeler Dealers, Mike Brewer & Edd China as Presenters, June 29th Episode. 327 Cubic Inch 350 Horse Power Engine Block Number: 3903352 4 Speed Muncie M21 Transmission Number: 392566 Posi Traction Rear Axle. Showing 95,000 Miles. Here is what I know that has been done to the car: The Engine has been gone through, all new seals and gaskets, no leaks and no smoke. I had a compression test done and it was high and consistent on all 8 cylinders. A High Energy Electronic Ignition has been installed in the original distributor, Better performance, drive-ability, emissions and MPG's, New Water Pump, Fuel Pump and Thermostat. New Plug Wires and Spark Plugs. All New Filters. There is a 2.5 Stainless Steel Manifold back Exhaust System with a Crossover Pipe and Magnaflow Mufflers. It sounds awesome without being annoying. The Cooling System is upgraded with an High Performance Radiator and 2 Electric Cooling Fans, I drove it for 2 hours on a 100 degree day and it was cool as a cucumber. The Holley Carburetor was just Rebuilt. New Battery. All new fuel lines (no problem with ethanol) all new Brake Lines. Many new suspension pieces. The 4 speed M21 Muncie Transmission has a New Clutch, Pressure Plate and Throw-out Bearing. All 4 Original Calipers have been Rebuilt with new high performance Pads and Rotors. A Tilt Steering Column was added which apparently was not available as an option in 1968, A Reproduction Steering Wheel was added but I have the Original Wood Wheel which will be included with the car. The Rally Rims look like new. Brand New Tires. The interior looks new. All of the gauges work, even the clock. There are New Vacuum Servos for the Headlights and Windshield Wiper Cowling. It has a New Convertible Top along with a New Rear Window. It comes with the FACTORY HARDTOP! The paint is showroom shiny and is in excellent condition. If you want a driver, not a trailer queen, this is a great one. I would think you could put 100k miles on this car without replacing anything major. I have a BMW 335i twin turbo putting out 300hp at the rear wheels and as soon as I got the Corvette home I raced the BMW. The Corvette was faster. In 2 more years this car will be 50 years old and prices will skyrocket like the C2's. An investment in a restored 1968 Corvette will out perform an overpriced stock market or real estate. Plus the cache of a famous TV Show doing the restoration work on this car should add even more value. This is one well sorted Corvette. Looks new drives better than new. This is the actual car that was restored on the World Famous TV Car Show. Wheeler Dealers and Bitchin Rides are our two favorites. $30,375 (RnM) on July 8, 2016. BiN $31,500 (Ended) on July 27, 2016. 1) VERY NICE CONVERTIBLE 1968 CORVETTE WITH NOM STOCK 327 WITH FACTORY 4 SPEED. THIS IS THE FIRST YEAR FOR THE CHROME BUMPER CORVETTE. THE PREVIOUS OWNER INVESTED A TON OF MONEY IN THIS CAR WITH A BEAUTIFUL RED BASE COAT CLEAR COAT PAINT JOB, UPDATED BLACK INTERIOR, REBUILT FRONT SUSPENSION, ENGINE, CLUTCH AND BRAKES. I WOULD CLASSIFY THIS CORVETTE AS SEMI-RESTORED AS THEY DID NOT DO A FRAME OFF RESTORATION. THE VETTE COMES WITH THREE TOPS: HARD TOP, SOFT TOP AND NO TOP.. HA HA. THE HARD TOP LOOKS TO HAVE BEEN REPLACED OR RESTORED AND THE SOFT TOP IS BRAND NEW. THE PAINT IS VERY NICE WITH ONLY A FEW CHIPS FROM DRIVING. THE PAINT IS PROBABLY 5 - 6 YEARS OLD AND WHEN NOT DRIVEN, IT HAS BEEN GARAGED. THE VETTE DOES NOT MAKE ANY WEIRD NOISES WHILE DRIVING, STEERING, BRAKING, ETC.... (OTHER THAN WIND NOISE, HA HA). THE POWER STEERING ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED AND TURNS EFFORTLESSLY. THE CORVETTE STARTS RIGHT UP, HAS GREAT POWER, SHIFTS SMOOTHLY, HANDLES LIKE IT'S ON RAILS AND STOPS WELL! I WOULD HAVE NO PROBLEMS DRIVING THIS CAR ANYWHERE!! PUT GAS AND GO!!! SO EASY TO DRIVE, YOUR WIFE WILL EVEN WANT TO DRIVE IT (maybe too much as I can't get my wife out of it!!). THIS IS A VERY NICE DRIVER AND WOULD ALSO DO QUITE WELL AT LOCAL SHOWS. I'LL ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS THAT WILL CERTAINLY COME UP. DOES THE VACUUM SYSTEM WORK? YES, THE HEADLIGHTS FLAP UP AND WIPER PANELS ALSO OPEN VIA THE VACUUM SYSTEM. THE WIPERS DO NOT WORK THOUGH.... MY ELECTRICAL GUY SAID IT WAS A BAD SWITCH BECAUSE HE JUMPED THE WIRES AND THEY WORKED. I DID NOT REPLACE THE SWITCH SO IF YOU WANT TO CRUISE IN THE RAIN (THE CAR NEVER SAW RAIN WITH ME!!), JUST REPLACE THE SWITCH. 95,000 miles. Colors from the owner. March 19, 2008. |
