Monterey 2015, Lot F126 The Corvette was always an icon created for status, and when considering the final year of the L71 Tri-Power 427 engine option, perhaps Red is not the optimum color. Indeed, the upscale yet subtle combination of Cortez Silver and Black on a convertible design may be more in keeping with the value and quality that this example demonstrates. A multiple award winner with excellent provenance, this well-restored roadster showing 38,380 miles is in stunning condition. In fact, this car is a three-time NCRS Top Flight Award Winner; it has also received the NCRS Performance Verification Award and the coveted Zora Arkus Duntov Mark of Excellence Award among other honors. The frame-off restoration includes a refreshed Black interior, superb paint and panel alignment, and a driveline created to thunder. Of course, the L71 big-block engine was legendary during its brief three years of production. Available only in the Corvette, this 435 HP package defined powerful elegance in the muscle-car era. Moreover, this model year was the grand finale for this multi-carb engine package, with its four-bolt mains, premium gas compression, and heavy-duty internals. Nonetheless, the 3x2 layout allowed for mild street manners as well, and was the powerplant of choice for serious street enthusiasts. Behind the engine is an M21 4-speed transmission, with a Positraction differential rounding out the driveline. In term of options, this Corvette comes with the F41 performance suspension and accompanying standard four-wheel disc brakes, plus AM/FM radio, center console, Black soft top, 15x8-inch Corvette Rally wheels, and Super Sport redline tires. Accompanied with ownership documentation, this L71 Stingray presents a truly impressive opportunity to own a Corvette roadster of the highest echelon. |
