Car history:
My very first classic car was a blue 1970 Corvette Convertible that I eventually
sold to help raise the necessary money to start my business way, way back in
1993. In January of this year I decided that I wanted a similar car but could not
find a numbers matching 1970 454 convertible and this 1968 came up for sale in
rare International Blue over spring break this year so I purchased it instead for
$25,900. It is nicely appointed with a 4 speed Muncie, power windows, power
brakes, power steering and of course the big 427 V8 and its always been a
western car so the underside is absolutely pristine. Its originally a 400 hp car,
(still has the original and additional return line for the tripower setup), but the
tripower set up was stolen under the previous owners car so it currently sports a
4 barrel set up like a 390 hp car. I have not yet purchased it but they are
available either reproduction or original, I can help the buyer with that purchase if
youd like. In my opinion the car was a bit oversold to me so I sent it into a shop
to start making improvements. New carpet, new door panels, new pillar post
moldings, correct AG coded wheels, original center caps, new trim rings, a couple
of new gauges that were inoperative were replaced, all new aluminized exhaust
and new tips, repair the vacuum system to the headlights were working all to the
tune of about $5,000. Everything now works, (gauges, radio etc), with the
exception of the windshield wipers. So I now have a pretty nice car and what
happens? A blue 1970 454 convertible comes up for sale in similar condition; yup
I bought it!.and now I have two cars.

The car does have the original motor and it is numbers matching but was stamped
as the numbers faded when the block was decked, (I have a statement from the
engine rebuilder verifying this). I was told this after I purchased the car but I feel
like this is something you should know ahead of time. I havent even retitled the
car in my name yet but would be happy to do so if this is important to the buyer.
I have not verified this myself but looking at the eBay ad when I bought it the car
has the original and correct AZ coded rearend, which is a 3:55 ratio, correct
exhaust manifolds, the motor has 3,500 miles on it with an upgraded roller rocker
cam, the transmission is also numbers matching PB087 1864692 M20 4 speed.
I would say the paint on the car is a 6 on a 1-10 scale, it looks great from 10-12
feet away with some scratching and nicks but nothing excessive. Its perfect for
cruise nights and local shows but not a paint job you would want to try and
compete with for sure. Ive been told that vin tags have a history of rusting on
these cars, true to a western car this one superb. Please ask any questions, I
know Im going to take a loss on the car but it happens sometimes and worse
things are always possible. I have a clear title in hand, no liens, salvage or long
stories just ready to go for your enjoyment. So in a nutshell, the auction is
starting out at my purchase price, all the improvements are free and you can
even make me a reasonable offer from there.
