1968 Chevy Corvette 427 Coupe. No option car, was ordered to go straight and fast! Original matching numbers 427 L36 390hp Engine. Manufactured between January and February of 1968. Block casting #3916321, IL engine code, Intake manifold #3937793, Head Casting #3917215, Alternator is the Delco #1100693, Radiator looks to be the original Harrison. Original Muncie 4 speed transmission. New Holley Street Avenger Carburetor, I also have the original Rochester Quadrajet as well. New brakes and shocks. Restoration began this past summer. This car ran STRONG and FAST but was smoking. Heads were removed, valve job completed. Still was smoking. Had the heads pulled again, found a cracked oiler ring on piston #5. The mechanic talked me into a complete rebuild. All GM, US made parts were ordered, bought and paid for- pistons, rings, bearings, wrist pins- The Works! Paid 50% upfront for the work- $2400, and have not seen the mechanic since. He went out of business, took my cash and SKIPPED TOWN! Now, I am left with a Corvette, which was probably perfectly fine prior to September 1st, with a rebuild left in midstream. I do not possess the knowledge or tools to complete the job, or extra cash to pay all over again. I was able to retrieve all of the parts to complete the project. This includes all of the engine components, gaskets, a new wiper motor, and the 2 horns. New driver side door hinges have been installed but have been adjusted. EVERYTHING was in fine working order until September! Finish the rebuild with the included parts, or put another piston back in #5! Colors from the trim plate. Built date is H06. November 25, 2008. |
