Not all Silver Anniversary 1978 Corvettes have been put away for posterity. Case in point: this potent, fully rebuilt and customized C3 packing a fuel injected small block, a bunch of custom body modification, and a beautiful black leather interior. Look closely at this Anniversary Vette and youll see a few things that have been changed, but maybe you cant quite put your finger on what. Of course theres that twin turbo hood, which offers a taller center stack and a pair of NACA ducts, but thats only one part. Out back, the rear end has been resculpted to resemble a C4 ZR-1, with a rounded rear bumper and squared-off taillight housings. The front bumper has been molded into the nose so its totally seamless, and a chin spoiler gives it a low, aggressive look. Finally, it was finished in a cool charcoal gray metallic finish that is a couple of shades darker than the Anniversary Silver, giving it a sinister, predatory look that is sorely lacking from many Corvettes of this era. The black leather interior is almost entirely stock and beautifully preserved. The seats show some comfort marks, but it only adds to this cars gunslinger personality. All the original gauges are fully functional, and a shift light has been added atop the steering column. Carpet, door panels, and even the headliner are original, so you know that this wasnt some beater that was rebuilt, but actually a very nice car that someone decided to take to the next level. An AM/FM/CD stereo system has been professionally installed in the dash, along with the control box for the Edelbrock Pro-Flow fuel injection system, which is mounted right in the drivers line of sight for easy tuning. This Anniversary Vette is all about whats going on under the hood. Thats the original block, but it has been stuffed with a steel crank, LT-1 pink rods with full floating wrist pins, forged pistons and a roller valvetrain, and with a slight overbore, it now measures 355 cubic inches. Heads are aluminum units from a 1988 L98 that have been ported and polished. And, of course, that awesome programmable fuel injection system that can be tuned on the fly to get the most out of the engine. The transmission is a built TH350 3- speed automatic feeding a set of acceleration-happy 3.90 gears out back. Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation supplied new calipers, lines, hoses, and cables to bring the brake system up to snuff, and stainless fasteners have been used throughout. Everything underneath the car has been painted, plated, or polished to show standards, and while it shows signs of being driven, it remains an exceptionally clean and very potent Corvette. The original aluminum wheels look just right on the C3 body, and theyre in excellent condition with 225/70/15 white letter radials wrapped around them for protection.
