Car history:
1968 Corvette convertible - both tops- LESS ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION. I purchased this car in 1988 because it had a 427 and 4-speed. This engine had a replacement block and I could not verify if the car was originally a big block car. The previous owner said it was but who knows? Anyway - could never get the engine to run right so I sold engine back to the previous owner and put in a small block. Ran it this way for a number of years and then used the engine and trans in another project and the Corvette has been parked inside since 1996. The frame and suspension are in good condition - no rust through on frame- rear differential has been rebuilt using 3.73 gears and half shafts and main shaft u-joints were replaced. Original steel leaf spring replace with fiberglass spring. The car was originally Silverstone silver with black interior. Was once painted red and is now black. The front end has been replaced at one time, the inner fenders need to replaced because they have been patched up. The rear seems to be all original with no apparent repairs or patch work. The paint is shiny but lousy prep work. Once again NO ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION but includes original tach drive distributor, original shifter and linkage, Griffin aluminum radiator, extra differential, half shafts, and trailing arms, Hooker competition big block headers .
The interior is complete but worn. All gauges worked, steering wheel is in very good condition, dash is cracked, no carpet, leather seats OK, door panels OK, the windshield has been replaced and there is no rust in windshield frame. At one time, half shaft by battery box came loose and damaged battery box and repair was done. 42,566 miles from the odometer. Colors from the owner. September 1, 2009.
