| 1) I purchased this Survivor 1972 LT-1 Corvette on October 16th, 2011 from the original owners and can document everything about this extremely nice Corvette. The car has 48,105 owner documented actual miles on it. It had been sitting for over 25 years in a garage when I bought it. This Mille Miglia red (code 973) 72 Corvette with black interior (code 400) is the last model year with the steel bumpers and removable rear window. This car would be an excellent choice for someone wishing to get its NCRS certification although minor additional work would be required. All the numbers match on this car from the VIN number including the motor block casting number (3970010), engine (V0813CKY) (12S508209), M21 close ratio transmission (508209), differential (rear axle is a 3.70 ratio), distributor (111201), alternator (1100950), carburetor (3999263) which was remanufactured by All American carburetor and comes with a lifetime warranty. A true survivor car is wonderful but often comes with some things that don't work anymore. I decided that I wanted the numbers matching car not only to be correct but fully functional as well. I have receipts for over ten thousand dollars of new parts that I replaced on this car mostly from Volunteer Vette in Knoxville, Tennessee (I kept every reasonable component that I replaced in case I needed the exact original, and example is the clutch presssure and throw out bearing (2) I put a new Hurst competition shifter in but i have the numbers matching original). I started with a new stainless steel brake system overhaul consisting of stainless steel lines, calipers, brake pads and emergency brake kit with new lines, clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearings, refreshed the master cylinder, power steering cylinder, U joints for the driveshaft and half shafts, fuel pump, exhaust system, hoses, clamps, new vacuum system complete with hoses, radiator and core support but kept the original (runs cool) engine professionally refreshed at a cost of over two thousand by the premier builder in my area but kept stock (original bore), heads were redone at the same time with 3 way angle valve job, new springs, guides etc, every component of the suspension was refreshed from the front end to the rear end including the trailing arms. The rust free frame was wire brushed and repainted. I replaced the seat belts (have originals), installed dynamat sound deadener lining over the entire floor (very quiet and cool), replaced all the guages (have originals), including the electronic clock (kept the old one), fan control valve, headlight switch, tach cable, Interstate battery and cables, new B.F. Goodrich T.A. radials, powder coated A-frame arms and rally wheels code(K10), new foam rubber seat cushions, console cover, repaired radio and installed new speakers. This car starts, idles and drives perfectly and runs straight down the highway. This car has never been hit or wrecked. My father and brother (a General Motors trained body and fender mechanic for over fifty years) painted this car in 1992 for the original owner and he stripped it so I can document through pictures that its never been hit. The car was gel coated and the paint still looks good considering its 25 years old. It was repainted with seven coats of Dupont lacquer and has been garage kept since then by the original owner and me. I have been working on the car for the past six years and have only put approximately 900 miles on the car mainly to test drive it after upgrades. If you want an original numbers matching, no hit, perfect driving, fully documented 1972 Corvette with the right color, this would be a good choice. In the enclosed pictures, you will see a letter from the original owner stating the actual mileage and a picture of the tank sticker. Items that need additional work are a small place I repaired in the left door jam need spot painted, the door panels are slightly worn but are original with the date code of August 1970. Front and rear bumpers are great but the grille is in need of refurbishment but passed the three foot test. The clock works, the windshield wipers work, headlights raise and lower, tilt and telescopic is fully functional, horn blows, radio plays, speedometer and tachometer work. A car cover, T-top covers and straps, original P02 wheel covers, floor jack and lug wrench, along with a $125.00 LT-1 stencil layout for the hood and some new interior items comes with the car.
