1971 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE This vehicle has been an on going project car for many years. It is not perfect but it is very nice and VERY quick. Acceleration, cornering and brakes are excellent.
Production # 257 – July 1970 Assembly. Owned since 1985
ENGINE: Built for street performance with over 400 lb-ft torque from 2,500 to 5,000 RPM: 1990 L-98 stroked to 383 by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. Engine has less than 1,000 miles on it. Dyno'd at 370 HP, 451 lb-ft TRQ.
Arizona Speed and Marine ported plenum intake with 44mm tube runners 58 mm Throttle Body GM Speed Density Air Fuel management with 727 ECM mounted in cockpit with custom Zimmer Industries Chip March polished aluminum brackets and pulleys on serpentine belt system Sanden A/C compressor Remote Oil Filer Braided hoses throughout. Exhaust: Ceramic coated Hedman Headers with 4-2-1 Flowmaster collectors, 2.5” exhaust pipes with “X” crossover, resonators and Edelbrock Stainless RPM mufflers
DRIVE TRAIN: Keisler TKO 5 speed Overdrive Transmission with less than 250 miles on it. Balanced driveshaft GM 3.55 differential 3” half shafts with Spicer U Joints and DragVette retaining loops.
COOLING SYSTEM: Griffin Dual Core Aluminum Radiator with Aluminum Reserve tank. Dual Spal 11” electric fans with custom dual speed fan controller
STEERING, SUSPENSION, BRAKES, WHEELS, TIRES: Steeroids Rack and Pinion power steering Suspension: Front: Vette Brakes transverse leaf spring, 1” stabar, Bilstein HD shocks Rear: TRW transverse spring, 5/8” stabar, Bilstein HD Shocks, Vette Brakes Smart Strut assembly Brakes: Hydro Boost Power Brakes Booster Wilwood Aluminum calipers with custom pads New Raybestos (US Mfg) drilled and slotted rotors Wheels: PS Engineering 17” Halibrand Gran Sport/Cobra Replica Magnesium with Chrome rim Tires: 255/50/ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza with less than 250 miles
FRAME AND BODY: Rust free frame believed to have originally been sold in New Mexico. Frame cleaned and painted with POR 15 with body on. Body shims replaced with cushions from 73 and later C3 for better ride quality. Custom C5 Red Paint - complete strip revealed no sign of wreck Custom LT-1 Louvered Heat Extraction Hood Modified GM C3 Pace Car front spoiler Custom 383 Hood Badges in place of typical 427 Rear Lights Modified to four brake lights White soft top in fair condition - New Al Knoch top and weatherstrip in box included Black Vinyl hard top in very good condtion
