This is a numbers matching L46, 350CI-350HP, 4 speed, A/C, power steering car that I purchased in the spring of 1995. I drove the car for two seasons, then during the winter of '97 began the restoration; disassembling the car, stripping the paint, doing miscellaneous fiberglass work and body prep. I was then side-tracked with a major construction project and never got back to finishing it. During the time that I drove the car everything worked, even the A/C. For the most part, the car is original. I did replace suspension components with some Vette Brakes & Products items; new front springs, new shocks, poly bushings, new ball joints, fiberglass rear spring, heavier front sway bar, added rear sway bar, stainless brake caliper overhaul. I also changed the original 3:36 gear set to 3:70.
The engine is original and to my knowledge has never been overhauled. Engine block, cylinder head, and intake manifold casting numbers are correct. Quadrajet is not original. Engine VIN and Muncie M20 VIN stampings are correct as well as the "CAM" coded differential housing. The distributor and alternator markings are correct and I would assume original. Chassis is solid with no rot, just surface rust. Body cage is solid with only minor attention needed at both upper windshield corners. The rear tail light area as well as the drivers side floor area was in need of some fiberglass work, which I've already done. The stock hood that came on the car needs fiberglass repair where one hinge was broken loose. The LT-1 hood that also goes with the car, is fine. Driver door needs minor fiberglass work where mirror attaches. A new GM fuel tank, exhaust bezels, license plate bezel and rear 'C O R V E T T E' lettering is also included. Rear bumpers have already been re-chromed. Window glass is okay and I would presume it to be original. Wheels are the Corvette rallys with rings and centers. Car is complete except for exhaust pipes. Removed mufflers with attached rectangular tips are included. Original 3:36 gearing is included. Also, I obtained all the hardware and console components to convert to an electric window set-up, which is included. A Mid America Assembly Instruction Manual also goes with the car. 1970 Corvette Owners Manual is included (probably a repo). The steel body fixture that you see in the pictures is also included in the auction. The engine stand seen in the photos is not included in the auction. Engine block casting numbers 6GM, 3970 010, G70, H39, 020; Engine stamping 70S416039; Cylinder head casting numbers G40, 3927186; Intake casting numbers G70, 3965577, G40; Muncie stampings P0H04A, 70S416039; Distributor number 1112021; Alternator number 1100884; Trim tag codes 972/411 For the past 15 years the body and engine have been garaged, the rolling chassis has been either covered outside over concrete or garaged, and all remaining parts have been inside the house. For whatever reason I've maintained current registration all these years. Buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up at my facility. I will physically assist in the loading of all parts. If buyer would rather not take the steel body fixture I will also assist in placing the body back on the rolling chassis. Due to possible winter weather conditions in this part of the country I will allow 45 days from auction end for pick- up, everything will remain stored inside.
