Engine Block - #3914678, Dated B288 (February 28, 1968), Pad V0307HC; Serial #18F184003 Heads - #3932441, Dated L109, D870 Intake - #3919803, Dated C88 Carburetor Quadrajet #7045213, Dated A6 YA Exhaust Manifolds Headers Transmission Turbo 400, Aluminum Plate 458/75-CM-12287 Rear End Rear Cover Casting #3871375 Rear Axle Code AV 6 13 68 (3.08:1) Positraction (427) Distributor GM - Not tach drive Alternator - #11?????, Dated 0A20 Starter - #1108781, Dated 5F16 Compressor Charge R-12, Model #591064?(5) Water Pump - #30570 A Coil Aftermarket Fuel Pump - Aftermarket HIGHLIGHTS: Car is a project car out of Texas, with a non-matching (NOM) 327/300 motor, Turbo 400 automatic transmission, soft top (only), factory air conditioning, power windows, headrest seats, power steering, power brakes and tinted glass. Engine and transmission are out of the car. Engine is complete, but totally disassembled. Car has been off the road for at least 16 years. FRAME & BODY: The frame, birdcage, pillar posts and radiator support are all rock solid. Frame is really nice, with no repairs, welds. Door frames are both solid and rust-free. The fiberglass body appears to be in very nice shape. Car does not appear to ever have been hit, repaired or fixed. The front clip is almost perfect! The hood is cracked/heavily scratched. Headlight assemblies are complete, with no rust. Both headlight bezels are fiberglass. All bonding strips are visible within all four (4) wheel wells. Windshield glass is tinted/shaded. LH (driver's side) door glass is also tinted, and in great shape. RH (passenger side) door glass is missing. EXTERIOR: Front bumper has nice chrome, but has been stressed in one area, with a section of chrome chipped off. Front bumperettes are in fair/poor condition, as are both rear bumpers. All three (3) front grilles have cracks in the plastic. Turn signal assemblies are both fine; lower front grille chrome is there, but pitted. Lower front valence has a small crack on the bottom lip. Tail light bezels and tail light lenses are all there, although two (2) of the tail light lenses are not original. Rear valence panel is gone, but both back up light assemblies are there. One rear deck grill is missing. All four (4) side marker lights are there. Outside mirrors are both in great condition, but not original 68 Corvette mirrors. Lower rocker covers and moldings are both in good/fair condition. One lower rocker cover has a piece broken off one end. Rear license plate bezel is cracked and pitted. Wiper door assembly is there, but wiper door grill is made up of two (2) separate pieces, and wiper door linkage has been damaged/repaired. Both items will need additional attention. Both the long and two (2) short wiper door moldings at the top of the fenders are missing. Convertible top frame is rusty and dented in spots, and will need attention. All four (4) wheels are 15 Corvette style rallies, but not the AG coded 68 only wheels (FW). Spare tire tub (top) lid and hardware are there. The spare tire tub, spare tire and jack are missing. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Engine compartment looks relatively unmolested. Windshield wiper motor is there, as is the wiper washer bag. All air conditioning items appear to be there headlight actuators, both horns and A/C condenser are all there. No smog parts. Some of the ignition shielding parts are there, as shown in one photo. DRIVETRAIN: Replacement engine block was cleaned and magged on 10/27/15. No cracks found; block is currently standard bore. Machine shop advises the block will need decked, line honed/bored, and will need at least three (3) sleeves (rust). Block will need to go to at least .030. Turbo 400 transmission is as I purchased it will probably need gone through. The original engine and transmission are no longer with the car. Driveshaft and transmission yoke are there. INTERIOR: Most interior pieces have been dyed black, or changed to black, from the original dark orange vinyl. Carpet is gone. Upper and lower dash pads are OK, but again, have been dyed black. Speedometer, tachometer, and all center gauges are there, but will need restored. Console is broken; E-brake cover and shifter plate are there, but will need restored. Doors are completely disassembled, and all door parts (except for RH door glass), appear to be there. Replacement door panels are in nice shape, but have been dyed black. Seats are split, and will need recovered. Seat tracks are all there. Seat backs are gone; headrests have been recovered black, and one is split/cracked. Chrome hockey sticks (on the seats), are nice. Quarter trim pieces have been recovered black, and look OK. Inside windshield trim and rear view mirror assembly are all driver quality. No sunvisors. Steering wheel has been replaced with a later wheel, which is in rough shape. Steering column is black, and in good condition. Original Dark Orange seat belts are all there. Stock AM-FM radio is there, but I don't see any speakers. Kick panels are in good shape, but have been painted black. Tachometer shows a 5,300 RPM redline (correct for a base car). OVERALL ASSESSMENT: This car needs a complete restoration, but is a great candidate due to its rock solid frame, bird cage, doors, radiator support, and nice fiberglass body. The early production front clip looks perfect! I have a clear Ohio title in my name. The original Owner's Manual goes with the car.
