Car history:
This War Bonnet Yellow 1972 Corvette convertible was assembled the first week
of August 1971. It was sold new in January of 1972 at Browning Chevrolet in
Independence, Missouri. The woman that purchased it owned it until 2010 when a
customer of mine from the Kansas City area purchased it from her. The car had
been sitting for quite a while and the brakes were out. He fixed the brakes and a
few other little things to make it drivable for short trips. He was going to fix what
needed fixed to make it dependable, have it NCRS or Bloomington judged as a
Survivor and then drive it. Then the opportunity to purchase his original 1969 Z-28
that he owned 30 years ago presented itself. He called me and now I own the car.
I have the original window sticker, bill of sale, warranty booklet with Protect-o-
plate and a whole bunch of State of Missouri inspection forms.

The paint is at least 80% original, and looks pretty good from about 20 feet. Up
close it's poor. There are scratches, flaws and imperfections all around the car.
It needs repainted. The weather-strip is all original. The body on this 40 year old
chrome bumpered Corvette is excellent. It’s obvious this car has not been molested.
The hood, doors, headlamp doors, wiper door and rear deck lid all fit excellent.
The wiper door works but it needs the vacuum control under the RH wiper arm.
When you turn the wipes off the door wants to close before the arms are parked.
All of the bright work; to include the bumpers, moldings and trim are also original.
They are tarnished and lack the shine of new but the fitment is excellent. Some
naval jelly and 0000 steel wool would make a huge difference in the chrome. I’ll
take great fit over shine every time.

The frame is solid and straight. The undercarriage of this car appears to be 100%
original. There are markings and tags on the suspension and steering that indicate
those components are original as well.

The interior is 100% original. The dash pads are excellent and don’t appear to
have ever been out of the car. The seat covers are split and the foams are
deteriorated. The drivers’ door panel is cracked and the plastic park brake
console is broke. The front carpets are soiled, faded and worn. It’s ok the way it
is for a Survivor but it needs seat covers, foams and at least front carpets.

The engine compartment is nearly 100% original. The odometer shows 64,000
but the documentation that’s included with the car indicates it’s 164,000. Missouri
was and still is a state that requires safety/emission inspections to renew the
registration. There’s a stack of those documents starting in 1975 with the last one
in 1994. In 1994 the mileage was 157,397. It’s been driven just about 7000 miles
in the last 18 years. Other than regular oil changes there’s been very little done
to this car. Midas put a Lifetime exhaust on it in 1976 and was still covering it
under the warranty in 1995. That’s why it doesn’t have the correct tips. They
weren’t covered under the lifetime warranty and the owner didn’t care about the
tips. The car starts right up and idles and accelerates smooth. The tires are old
and need replaced.

I have the right hand side grille and both front side marker lenses. Please call me
if you have any questions. Email responses through ebay will be slow. This car is
for sale locally with an advertised price of $16,500 obo. Thank you and good luck.
