| Car history: |
Up for sale is this beautiful 1971 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with only 24,434 original miles. It is a one owner vehicle that is all original, unrestored, and unmolested. This vehicle is owned by a retired school teacher (really) that is older (a gentleman never dicloses a ladies age). She and her husband purchased this car brand new in 1971 at a local area dealership. The car was ordered with the following options (as read from original order invoice):
The car -$5533.00, destination charge $74.00, VC60AA 4-season air conditioning $464.50, VJ50AA Power brakes $47.40, VLS5AA 365 HP Turbo-Jet 454 V8 $294.90, VM40AA Turbo Hydra-matic $100.35, VN37AA Tilt-Telescopic Sterring wheel $84.30, VPU9AA F70 X 15 White Lettering tires $43.65 , 7U69AA AM/FM Pushbutton Radio $178.00 , 420 BK Saddlebag Leather Interior $158.00 , and 7989AA 91-91 War Bonnett Yellow $0.00 .
I also copied down the following: Casting #3963512 , casting date E12 71, May 12,71 LS5 Auto, Pad date/SFX T0615CPJ/June 15, Build date L14/July 14,1971 . The door plate had Trim Code 470 Tan Leather, Paint Code 989/ War Bonnett Yellow .
I have owned numerous Corvette's , and this is the best one I have seen that wasn't sitting on the auction block at Barritt-Jackson or Mecum. When it drove out of the garage into the sunlight , it shined like a brand new car. The paint is not sunfaded or blotched. The chrome gleamed , and the exhaust had a soft rumble. This car is collector quality !
The owner then showed me the paperwork from "Bloomington" where she and her husband had drove it to in 1996. The car was judged and received a 907 score and a "Bloomington Silver" award certificate. She also produced the inspection / judging sheets and advised me that she had fixed most of the items that points were deducted for. Added point: They had replaced the original tires prior to driving there, with original type tires.
I inspected this car and found the following items : 1) Front left grill chrome has some flaking on the bottom edge 2) Paint is in great shape, is original and not a repaint. I did find two spots on the upper right rear quater panel that has been chipped/scraped (not into primer or gel-coat). Also a small area on right front wheel well behind the tire that paint had been scraped. The owner advised me that these things had happened during transport and delivery when they purchased the car. The dealership offered to repaint the areas, but would not gaurentee the paint to match. She and her husband decided to leave it alone. The drivers seat has a slight wear mark in the usual area. Everything else worked including the headlights come up together and without hesitation. The T-Tops are scratched and the all the weatherstriping is soft and pliable. The motor and transmission runs smooth and no squeals, squeaks, or moanes. The A/C works and is cold. The tires, rims, caps all are in great contion and even the rocker panels covers have no rock chips, tar, dents, or scratches. The only other thing I noticed is on the right rear trunk area is a black plastic plug. This was where a CB antenna had once been. Bloomington judges deducted for this, but also told her not to fix it, that it did not take away enough points to try and have it repaired and paint matched.
The owner has a file with the original title, owners manual, and all other documents, and these items will go with the sale. I have tried to describe the car acurrately. The car can be inspected by appointment only. Car is sold "As-Is" with no implied warranty. There will be a $2,500 deposit required at auctions end, with the balance due at time of pick-up. The buyer is responisble for any transportation arrangements and costs. I will help on this end as much as possible. Any questions, please call me at (402)990-2542 or email your questions through ebay.
