Yes this started life as a 350 cu in. 300 hp auto trans. cortez silver 1970 roadster and ended up a two tone burgundy station wagon complete with moon roof, chrome rack and shag carpeting! It actually looks pretty good. I am not a Corvette person but this car is so complete and increadibly 70ties I planned on getting it back in fighting shape and having some fun driving around, but as it always happens I found a car I owned 30 years ago and can't do both of them. The car looks to be original from radiator to rear end and it runs, drives and stops. I have checked the engine and trans and they are original. The engine runs great. It starts right up sits there and idles like it was new, no smoke no lifter noise just the great small block Chevy sound. Everything seems to work: lights, stereo, turn signals. The chrome is fantastic. There is not any sign of a dent on the bumpers and the rest of the trim is great including the door handles. The front clip has never been hit so no cracks. The interior is the up level leather and is in really good shape (the plastic armrest is cracked but that is common), and it has a really nice original steering wheel and a tilt/telescope column. The wheels are 8" ralleys with a great set of original derby caps and a nice set of original trim rings. The door glass is original but the windshield has a crack. The guy I bought it from owes me the original hood, chrome distributor shielding plus other misc. parts and as soon as I get them they go with the car. Now the not so good. It has some 1973 and later parts like the hood, wiper system, and mirrors. The headlight buckets are in great shape but I can't get them to rotate. It may be something I am not doing right? The passenger door was hit and has a 10" area of damage. The edge of the drivers door also needs some minor repair. The frame has rust in the center section. I replaced the front calipers (still have the originals), brake lines and pads but the brakes are still weak. I have not bleed the rears, but they do not leak but I am sure there is air in those lines. Power steering, Power brakes, Tilt Telescope wheel, Leather seats, Moon roof! Chrome roof rack! Vingage cassette tape player, Woodgrain and shag carpeting! Color codes from the owner. 53,200 miles. June 13, 2010. |
