| Car history: |
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this numbers matching 1974 Corvette Convertible that is an excellent driver and priced to sell. The car looks good, runs great, and is a blast to drive. It was sold new by The Kings Chevrolet Co. in Cincinnati, OH on September 28, 1973, verified by the original documentation with the car. This is an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal work and effort. The car is finished in the very rare and desirable color combination of Bright Yellow (56) over Black (400). This is the original and correct color scheme, verified by the trim tag pictured below. It gets a ton of attention going down the road, especially with the rare and striking color. Please peruse all of the photos and numbers below to get a true sense of how original and nice this Corvette really is.
Only 5,474 convertibles were made in 1974. A brand new restyled rear end was first featured in 1974. The conventional rear bumper was replaced with a sloping two piece design. This was the only year for the split rear bumper Corvette. The new rear end eliminated the last vestiges of the long-lived rear-deck-lid spoiler and replaced it with a smooth-surfaced rear deck and a body-colored resilient extension covering the actual rear bumper and including the circular taillights meeting new federal energy-absorbing standards.
As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.
Exterior: The Bright Yellow exterior is in beautiful driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The convertible top looks great with no rips, holes, or excessive wear. The rear window is clear and not yellowed or foggy at all. The top actually fits quite well, but as with many of the C3 Corvettes, it can be a bit finicky to operate. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. I have done my best to accurately and objectively photograph the car and show the flaws I notices and there are many specific photos of those spots. There are some there imperfectionsthat were too faint to show up in photos, but nothing that is really stands out from about five or ten feet away. The wheels are in great condition with a nice bright finish and no curb rash. The tires are almost brand new and appear to have about 95% tread left.
Please note that all of the glass on this Corvette is date coded and original to the car as each piece predates the build date of September 3, 1973.
This Corvette looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.
Interior: The black interior of the Corvette looks splendid. The seats are in good condition with no rips, splits seams, or signs of excessive wear. They are not overly worn in the typical areas such as where the driver gets in and out. The carpet throughout the car is also in great condition with no stains, rips, or holes. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The dash is in great condition with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. The original jack and jack handle are still with the car in the rear storage compartment. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma whatsoever. Corvette interiors are not known to wear well and the excellent condition of this interior is a testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout its life.
The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.
Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in good mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. It is an awesome driver that is smooth on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shifts smoothly throughout the power band. Also, the engine compartment is clean and nicely detailed as one can see in the photos. This Corvette has plenty of power and is very fast. The horn works as do the headlights, fan for the heater and a/c, all gauges (with the obvious exception of the clock), wipers, lights, and power windows. The vacuum for the headlights works as both lights pop up with the headlight switch or override switch as they should. The heater core has been bypassed and the car has some typically Corvette leaks. The a/c does not work, but the compressor in not locked up and spins freely and all of the components are in place so it probably needs to be charged. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.
This Corvette runs and drives as well as it looks.
Overall Condition: Overall, this 1974 Corvette convertible is in terrific driver condition. It is a great value and we have it priced it to sell. This car turns heads and gets ton of attentions wherever it goes. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing. The original owners manual, plastic pouch, 1974 Chevrolet Maintenance Schedule, Emission Control Systems, Consumer Information pamphlets, and even the Chevrolet Warranty booklet with the original owners name and dealer who sold the car new are still with the car and included with the sale. The 74 and 75 Convertibles are still some of the best deals around in the Corvette market. They are all solid investments for a collector. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.
