| Car history: |
1969 Monaco Orange (990 paint code) 427/390 coupe, 4 speed . a/c p/s p/b p/w. Original Motor. Number off motor reads T1028MH and other number reads 79S734977 which matches number for car. Per codes this is a 427/390 manual transmission car with transistor ignition. This is a high high option car for 1969. Originally a California Car (AAA of Southern California Sticker Still on Back Bumper). Car is extremely clean underneath, shows that it has spent most of its life in California. Car runs and drives, brakes are soft, car needs a complete restoration. This car is solid, but not for the timid. Car needs lots of attention. This is a were this car gets interesting and why I bought the car originally. Car has Baldwin Motion Flares, Chin Spoiler and Hood. Car had Reverse Gills and a laid back Motion Style Rear window that past owner cut out. Suprising enough, when the laid back rear window was installed the stock rear dec was not cut. The car has rear window defroster option so maybe that's why rear deck stayed uncut? I don't know. The owner before me removed rear laid back window and reverse gills, laid back window destroyed when removed, reversed gills are intact. Car has very interesting modified seats that have high backs and were well built and upholstered for the standards of 1969. Very interesting. I have purchased for this car a real lemans motion gas cap (off a wrecked real motion car), two hone o drives (one rebuilt, one that needs to be rebuilt), two fly eye air cleaners, a set of motion style valve covers, 5 motion emblems (probabley repos), and a 1969 GM side exhaust system (awesome. needs refinishing). Car currently has western radial mags on it, I also have a set of ansen style slots that go with the car. I had a chance to meet Joel Rosen of Baldwin Motion Fame at Chevy Vette Fest in Chicago a few months back while I visited with the owner of one of my past cars, The Moray GT (ebay item 413885454). Joel said that one of the GT cars was purchased by a real estate mogul in California and was a Monoco Orange Car with about every possible option for 1969. This car has almost every option possible for 1969 and has the "born with" motor. Could this be that car? As Joel Rosen told me when documenting The Moray GT, "Have you ever been to Vegas, Ron?". It's a real long shot that this is a real Baldwin Motion Car. It is a fact that this is a Transister Ignition 427/390 Monaco Orange A/C 4 speed car. I have the original California blue plate (I believe it's the right plate, that's what the last owner told me). I dropped the tank on the car looking for the tank sticker, all that was left was the glue. I really haven't spent much time trying to document this car, I bought this car with the intention of building a street bruiser out of it. Unfortunately, life got in the way and I won't have the capital or the time to go after this car and get it done for several years. Somebody else needs to get this car done. This car has real potential. I hope whoever purchases it leaves it in its "Day Two" configuration. With the Original TI Motor (and I believe the original tranny and rear end) properly restored this would completely "p" off every member of the local NCRS chapter. This car has all the potential in the world. te). How many chances do you have in life to drove a Orange and Black 427 cubic. Trim code from the owner. January 20, 2009. |
