Car history:
History: This Chevrolet Corvette was bought new by actress Kim Basinger on September 14, 1978. That year marked the 25th anniversary for the model and this car was purchased from Schonlaw Chevrolet of Hollywood, California. The car has been in the Basinger family since and is currently owned by Kim's brother Skip, who drove it a short time before storing it in 1991. It has recently been brought out of storage and is being offered here, at auction to the highest bidder. Equipment: The car is in original condition with 48,400 miles on it. It is equipped with the L-48, 350 engine and an automatic transmission. It also features a positive traction differential, heavy duty suspension and 8" Rally wheels with trim rings and center caps. Recent, professionally done work includes a new battery, four wheel brake caliper rebuild, brake master cylinder and brake lines and hoses at the front. The engine starts easily and runs very well. Cosmetics: The car has never been damaged and the exterior retains the original solid Black paint and factory emblems. The interior is leather in Oyster color, is complete with all trim panels and carpeting, and has never been smoked in. The instrument panel also is original with the exception of an after market stereo / cassette player installed some time ago. Options: Options include mirrored glass roof panels (T-tops), power windows, power antenna, tilt steering and Posi-trac differential. Car comes with original owners manual and other documentation showing ownership history. Repairs needed: The left roof panel is cracked at the front (please see picture) but does not leak. The power antenna is not working. The passenger side, interior kick panel has a small tear. The drivers side, door pull is broken at the forward attach point and, as the car has been stored for many years, the air conditioning system requires servicing and presently does not cool. The car shows some light wear as would be expected and some paint fade at the rear, otherwise it is in straight, solid, clean and drivable condition and after some minor work, could be enjoyed as is. It is believed to be one of about 8,000 units offered in Black for that year..... This special, family owned Corvette is one classy looking car.
