| Car history: |
Sadly, with much regret, I am putting Nina (aka The Black Swan) up for sale. We are about to buy our first house and need to come up with down payment money in the next 30 days. Here's your chance to own a piece of history; an all-original, LAST YEAR OF THE STINGRAY, Corvette in great condition. In the ad I will tell everything you need to know about my baby, including her life story and most current mechanical records. She has been absolutely babied; never leaving the garage when roads are at all wet, as is obvious by looking at her undercarriage. She even comes with the original dealer brochure! Check out the pictures! Nothing is going unmentioned or kept secret so buy with confidence!
Life Story: Nina was born in August 18th, 1975 and was sold in Longmont, CO. She was a much loved toy for her original owner, as they kept her for over 30 years! For the latter 10 years of those 30, she lived in a barn in Northern Colorado where she was only driven on back country roads occasionally, and wasn’t even plated or insured. Enter: a mechanic I know in Denver. We’ll call him Andy. In 2009 Andy was looking for a good “barn find” Corvette that had low miles, numbers matching, and an original interior. Andy is a mechanic and he wanted something that he could do some work on but not need to mess with the interior. He looked at 26 different 75- 79 Corvettes before finding Nina. When he found her, he bought her on the spot. Over the next 2 years, he did the following:
- - Rebuilt Front Suspension & Steering - - New Battery - - Overhauled Carburetor - - Base Plate Gasket - - New Ignition Wires & Spark Plugs - - New Engine Vacuum hoses - - New Headlight Vacuum Valves (2) - - Stock Valve Covers w/ New Gaskets - - Engine Tune Up - - New Master Cylinder - - New Beauty Rings
It was pretty close to new when I got my hands on it last year. Here’s the things I’ve done since then:
- - Took out nasty 80’s tape deck and put in new Pioneer CD player w/ remote (red buttons look awesome w/ red interior) - - Replaced Rear Bumper Cover because it had a crack in it - - Had power steering flushed (was making a noise I didn’t like) - - New OEM red floor mats from GM (tags still on them for new owner to have new). - - New A/C belt - - New Power Window Relay Switch
So now she's running and looking great. Just had my mechanic look her over and put a few finishing touches on! She's ready to go! The engine and the undercarriage are both extremely clean. I took a number of pictures of both but ebay only lets me upload 24. Please ask if you'd like more pictures!
Purchase Details: So there you have it. It’s in nearly brand new condition. Interior is 100% all original except for the CD player. The 72k miles are on original engine and transmission (numbers match). Both the engine and under-carriage are beautifully clean. Nina lives in the garage if the roads are at all wet (and 95% of the time they’re dry, too, for that matter). She runs great and starts up every time.
In the interest of full disclosure, a few things that you might want to give attention to: - Left headlight is a little lazy. If you let the car warm up for a few minutes as the vacuum builds up, it’ll come right up, or if you’re in a hurry, you can just help it up. Never been a big deal to me at all, but you should know about it. - There’s a small leak from the Transmission Pan Gasket. Not a big deal and not hard to replace the seal if the leak got annoying. Nothing damaging if not replaced though. - The paint is in really good condition, and from 5 feet it looks perfect, but upon close inspection there are some small scratches and scuffs. NOTHING big or worth mentioning but I want to make sure nothing goes unmentioned. - Current miles are 72,727 but I will drive it a few more miles before the auction ends. I will make sure it doesn't go over 72,799 though. - Interior is in awesome, but still original, unrestored condition, so there are a number of little scuffs and cracks and things, such as the dash pad is great except for the speaker holes, some of the "grate" thing is missing if you look closely, or the seats w/ a few cosmetic blems, and the center console is a little cracked on the corner. I have done my best to detail them in the pictures. Feel free to ask for more information or pictures about specific parts of the interior.
