Car history:
1) Exterior: The Classic White exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see in the photos the finish has a terrific gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The rally wheels have a brilliant finish and the beauty rings are the correct and original 4-clip style, not the cheap foreign replacements. The Goodyear Eagle GTII tires have plenty of tread left. The soft top operates well and is in good condition with some wear on both sides in the typical spot where it contacts the mechanism, which is visible in the photos. The rear window is not yellow or cloudy. There are no major blemishes that have been excluded from the photos. There are some small imperfections and touch-ups around the car that were too faint to show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside of the car, it is very clean underneath and this Corvette has absolutely NO RUST ISSUES. We have included specific photos of the areas most prone to rust. The frame is totally solid with no rust around the key hole are in front of the rear tire and I have seen no evidence of corrosion around the windshield, which are the two most notorious spots for rust on a C3 Corvette.
Interior: The Bright Blue interior in this Stingray is in outstanding condition. The seats are in excellent shape with no split seams, rips, or excessive wear. The carpet is also in fantastic condition with no holes, rips, or major stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The door panels are in terrific shape. The door pulls are solid and intact. The dash and console look awesome with no cracks or sun fading. The radio in the car sounds good and most importantly it is Corvette specific unit made just for this car so the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The installation was done professionally and there is a receipt for it with the car. The car has a jack and the spare is still with the car. This Corvette has never been smoked in; there are no burns marks and no aroma of cigarettes. Corvette interiors from this era are not known to wear well, and the excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life.
Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in very good mechanical condition. As stated above there are over $10,100 in receipts that go with the car. It starts right away every time, runs well, and idles smooth. It drives great and feels nice on the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations or strange noises and the car performs quite well overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. The transmission shift well throughout the power band. Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean and detailed.
The radio works as do all the exterior lights, wipers, indicators, and horn. The blower for the heater works on all speeds. The vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works. The headlights go up quickly, evenly, and with no binding in the mechanism. The wiper door also goers up quickly and easily. The entire operation of both the headlights and wiper door can be viewed in the video. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. Some of the fiber optics work. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.
A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights, etc., are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common.
Overall Condition: Overall, this 1969 Corvette is in great driver condition. Low mileage examples in this year range are very rare and draw a huge premium over a standard Corvette. This Stingray is a great value and we have it priced to sell. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. While this is not an NCRS Top Flight or Bloomington Gold car, it is a very nice driver quality Corvette and a great car for the money. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. 49,073 miles from the odometer. Sold for $26,900 on March 24, 2018.
