Car history:
Here's a cool Vette from Florida that was upgraded to handle the Orlando heat, so you know it's ready for anything you can throw at it. But more than just ready-to-run, this numbers-matching 1970 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray coupe has had a ton invested in making this four-speed, A/C car more powerful and more comfortable. So while you might have thought it was already affordable, by the time you read all of this, you'll know it's a true steal of a deal.
This car appears to have been well maintained throughout its life, with the fiberglass panels fitting nicely to hug the body's every curve snugly. The code 974 Monza Red is the factory correct color that was professionally resprayed in 2011, so it looks crisp and sharp today. These earlier C3s are also for the brightwork lovers, and so the bumpers were rechromed to give them that unmistakable classic shine. And of course, no classic Chevy sports car looks complete without the iconic rally wheels.
It's no surprise that this factory red car was also ordered with the perfect complementary interior color, black. The leather bucket seats look amazing, and it's one of the best hues for inside a car like this. The rich darkness of the panels and carpeting allow the silver accents to pop on everything from three-spoke steering wheel, to the power window switches, to the original AM/FM radio. Plus, it coordinates nicely with the wood paneling on the doors and center console. For the driver, the dual pod speedometer/tachometer is in front of you with a full gauge package prominently to the side. While we all love stick shifts, your right hand is in for a real treat because that's a Hurst unit hidden under the stock topper ball. You can take off the T-tops and remove the rear window to listen to the roar of the engine singing behind you. But if you really don't like getting your hair blown around, this is an ice-cold air conditioned coupe, too. Plus, everything has been sealed in Dynamat insulation, so the weather will always be great inside.
On the road is where Corvettes earned their legendary status, and this one has been enhanced to be the best. Under the hood is the original numbers-matching L46 V8. Remember, this was the last year for the high compression motors, so these already make a respectable 350 advertised horsepower. But now this one was rebuilt to include the hotter cam and intake from the LT1 motor (so this coupe earns its LT1 hood!) You get complete control over the enhanced V8 thanks to the original Muncie four-speed. Plus, a Dewitt's Aluminum radiator with dual electric fans means you could run at parade speeds with the A/C on, and the Corvette will stay cool. Beyond great and reliable power, this Stingray offers truly superior handling. There is a new suspension front and rear, including Borgeson power steering, new rear shocks, and a new TRW composite monospring. There's also new brake calipers and discs on all of the four wheels, and the BF Goodrich tires only have 2,500 miles on them.
This is an amazing Corvette with all the huge investments in time and money already laid out (we have the restoration receipts to prove it.) The owner says there's only about 8,000 miles on the drivetrain, and only 2,500 miles since the body restoration. So can you believe this kind of head-turning, well-sorted C3 is so affordable?
