| Car history: |
The Corvette is in excellent overall condition and shows a high level of care over the years. Of particular note (and importance!) is the very straight and damage free exterior of the body. The Corvette's paint is excellent, very high gloss and free from significant defects and, in fact, hardly has any noticeable nicks, chips, scratches or major imperfections. It is an absolutely beautiful example! Only a close critical inspection will reveal the usual minor flaws (and those are very minor, indeed) found on any vehicle that has been driven on the street and accumulated even low mileage. The remainder of the exterior of the car is also excellent and the front and rear bumpers show no damage nor does the front, lower spoiler (lip). The exterior trim is in excellent "California condition", free (or course) from any signs of damage, pitting or rust. The glass is excellent and all of the lenses are free from cracks / damage.
The cars "Oyster" interior makes for a striking contrast to the cars silver/gray exterior and is in very good overall condition. The seats are firm and are free from rips, tears and major damage. Often times the very light interiors can show significant dirt & wear but not so in this case. While the leather has some signs of "patina" and a few rub/wear marks, as the photos show it is in very nice overall condition and is very presentable.
All of the remainder of the interior is equally as good and the dash, door panels, center console remain in original factory configuration with no modifications. The instruments are totally clear and the speedometer, odometer and tachometer are functional and accurate. Also, functional is the entire compliment of factory gauges that display positive readings.
A really cool addition to the car is the factory fitted GM factory radio (AM/FM) complete with an 8-track player. For functional reasons, one of the rear compartments in the Corvette is fitted with a high quality Alpine remote controlled operated AM/FM CD player complete with I pod connection that can be operated from driver's or passenger side seats. Also note that the car is equipped with the unique 8-track holder (in the glove box) shown in one of the interior photographs.
Mechanically the car is excellent. It not only runs very well but shifts without hesitation and steers and stops straight and without fuss. The emergency brake is properly adjusted. The entire electrical system is fully functional and everything but the clock (a characteristic weak point) works. The pop up headlight work perfectly (refer to photos in the listing). The air conditioning was fully functional and has been converted to R144A after considerable repairs (and expense) but it has not been used and, as a result, is not blowing cold at this time.
1978 CORVETTE - MAINTENANCE / REPAIR SUMMARY The Corvette has always received ongoing care and maintenance and has been serviced by one facility (the same repair facility that the owner has used for many years). Needs were addressed as they develop and, of course, the car received regular oil services, brakes, and other maintenance items. As an example, the following is a list of services performed within the previous few thousand miles; all by the same repair facility in Northern California: < 200 Miles - New (remanufactured) power steering pump, new power steering control unit, new power assist cylinder, newly rebuilt front brake calipers & new brake pads, bleed brakes
