We are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette model at an unbeatable value. The car is finished in the highly desirable color combination of Blue over Blue Vinyl. The original color combination is Le Mans Blue (976) with Blue Vinyl (411) as verified by the codes on the trim tag pictured below. The market on C3 chrome bumper Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. This Corvette does have the last six digits of the VIN, 707672, stamped on the engine block along with the suffix code HW, which is correct for a 1969 L46 350hp Corvette. An engine assembly date, September 20, 1968, is also stamped on the engine, which would be correct for a Corvette with a November 13, 1968 (D13) build date. However, we cannot verify the authenticity or originality of these stampings. The features of an original L46 are still present on this Stingray. First, the car has a 6,000 rpm redline tachometer, which was used on the 350hp L46 models. The L46 was only available with a 4-Speed transmission, which this car has and the transmission is original. The transmission is an M21 Close Ratio unit, which is common to the L46 high horsepower models. The car also still has the 350hp data plate on the center console for an L46 model. As one can see in the photos, the finish has fine gloss, smooth finish, and deep shine. The wheels and center caps are in good condition with a great finish. Please note that this car still has the correct 4 clips style beauty rings, not the cheap foreign made aftermarket replacements. The tires have about 90 per cent tread left. The chrome and other bright work shows well overall for a driver. There are a few places above the headlamps and other small blemishes around car that were too tiny to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. There are many photos of the underside to show how nice it looks and specific photos of the areas most prone to rust like the key hole in the frame. The car looks just as good in person as it does in the photos. Window Date Codes: Please note that almost all of the glass on this Corvette, the Astro Ventilation door glass, and even the pop out rear window, is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of November 13, 1968 (D13). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage. Interior The Blue Vinyl interior of the Corvette is in terrific condition. The seats are in excellent shape and look just as good in person just as they do in the photos with no rips, split seams, or excessive wear. The carpet is in nice condition as well with no holes or stains. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The radio works, and most importantly it is a Corvette specific unit made just for this car so the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The dash is in great shape with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. The door panels are in excellent condition with no cracks or splits, they are not worn in the typical area where your elbow would sit. The interior looks as good in person as it does in the photos. Mechanical: This Corvette is a great driver that feels nice the road and highway. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 65mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no strange noises or vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving. The transmission does not pop out of gear and the clutch feels good. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. This Corvette has plenty of power and is quite fast. Also, the engine compartment is clean and detailed as one can see in the photos. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. There are some items on the car that do not work such as the horn. As one can see in the video the car now starts with an aftermarket button on the console. Some of the fiber optic system works. The entire vacuum system for the headlights and wiper door works from both their respective switches on the dash and the override switches. The timing of the wipers and wiper door should be adjusted, but the wipers work fine when the door is raised by the override. The entire operation of the headlights and wiper door can be viewed in the video below. The blower works only on high speed. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the 4-Speed transmission and the T-Tops out on a beautiful day. A note on the fiber optic light monitoring system. We consistently receive many questions about the purpose of this system; exactly what it is and what it does. The sole and main idea behind the fiber optic light monitoring system is to simply confirm that all of the exterior lights, headlights, indicators, tail lights are working and to make the driver aware of a a burned out bulb. Each lamp on the outside of the car has an actual fiber optic cable the runs to an indicator on the center console. There are nine small indicators on the console and each has its own finer optic cable. When the bulb goes on the light travels through the fiber optic cable and illuminates the corresponding indicator on the console. If someone does not remember to plug the cable end into the lamp housing, does any work to the center console, or if there is a break in a connection or anywhere along the cable, that indicator no longer works. As one can image, over time this is very common. Overall Condition: Overall, this 1969 Corvette is in great driver condition and priced to sell. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now, and out of those years 1969 and 1972 are the most desirable. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, transmission VIN stamp, and transmission assembly date. The value of the Chrome Bumper Corvette has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector.
