2) The last time this car was up for sale: Corvette Markets Magazine commented in the winter issue 2009. This was as good as a 68 Corvette as you are likely to find. This was one of those cases where details mattered to the owner, and he clearly spared no expense to get it right. This Vette was same Family Past 39 Year. A California Car with 52,000 Original miles. A matching number 427/ 390 HP with a factory 4 Speed, Power Steering and T-Tops. The California Pink Slip Title still in place. The car has been in Storage for over 25 years and is part of a large Private Collection in Sacramento, California. Car restored to original factory color of (982) British Green. Bumpers are original to the car. New paint, grill, carpet, panels, felts, seals, moldings, exhaust, trim, badging, wheel rings and caps, glass, and rubber. All lights - markers - dome - dash and so on replaced as needed and fixed to work correct. Wheels removed sanded and painted correct gm silver. New trim rings and center caps all 4. All doors - t- top rubbers replaced new to weather seal. Inside of car removed - new carpet installed - passenger side door panel replaced with all hardware. All original inside panels removed sanded and re-painted correct factory black. New door handles installed - original door locks still in place. All dash gauges work correct not replaced few needed repair - all in good working order. Kept original not replaced. New water pump installed with factory correct pump! - new coolant -new fuel line and filter - new valve covers and gaskets ORIGINAL to 427 68 model with drivers side cut out in chrome. Motor area detailed and painted correct to factory original. -wiper fixed and wiper door arm replaced. Head light motor left side replaced and fitted correct to open and close. All new factory Chrome Lettering 427 and all body badging replaced new. New Exhaust system with dual mufflers installed from motor area to rear of car. All original chrome polished and re fitted correct. Rear glass removed and replaced new! Rear window rubber also replaced new. Seats removed cleaned and repaired as needed - Driver side rail system replaced with working frame so seat would adjust correct! New heater hose and clamps replaced. Fuel tank flushed and lines replaced as needed. Forward shift console removed, refurbished and adjustments made to shifter linkage. Rear gas cap factory logo insert replaced. T-tops removed, re-furbished inside panels, re-installed and adjusted. Drives side grill replaced. All four headlights replaced. Stereo system 12volt power lead short repaired. Tail lights and turn signals repaired to operate as factory original. New door window felts installed. 52,106 miles from the odometer. Color codes from the trim plate. Assembly date is G21. BiN $35,000 but Ended at $10,700 (RnM) on January 10, 2017. 1) Authentic 1968 427 / 390hp - 4spd Corvette Coupe - 54000 orig. miles.One owner since 1969 and stored for most of the last 20 years.The original matching numbers engine (78S421694) has never been out of the car.It runs beautifully and is impressive to say the least.While the orig. carburetor, air cleaner and valve covers were replaced years ago, the intake and exhaust manifolds are original to the engine.The body is in excellent condition throughout and is completely free of any stress cracks or other repairs.It has also never had any collision damage or repairs.Originally british metallic green, the car has been repainted once in the 70's to a slightly brighter shade of green. While it was a good quality job in the day, the paint has checked from age.The interior is very good overall altho there are a few scratches on the left door panel and the consol.The dash is nice as is the dashpad.There is one minor crack in the steering wheel rim.All guages and switches function normally.This car drives and handles beautifully.All 4 brake calipers have just been replaced and while it sounds great, the exhaust behind the manifolds is old and should be replaced.The gas tank has been replaced recently as the original tank developed a leak while sitting. The bumpers, chrome and other trim are excellent altho there is a very slight dent on one piece of stainless around the windshield. All the glass is very good. january 3, 2008.
