| Car history: |
1978 Chevrolet Corvette Silver Anniversary. Silver over Pewter/Oyster leather. L-48 with Automatic trans. This stunningly original Corvette has just 31K miles from new. All numbers match, of course. The car has never been judged but would undoubtedly win a Bloomington Survivor award, and would probably be elevated to Fingerprint status or even to a ZZenith or Benchmark car. The exterior finish appears to be 100% original, shows light wear, and should never be repainted. Body seams all completely intact. Stickers and pinstripes show minor nicks and a little modest heat checking on the hood but should also be left alone. The interior is also completely original and in very fine condition throughout with clear plastic sill protectors. The car has obviously spent its entire life stored indoors. The only known non-original items on the entire car are the stereo (sadly replaced with modern CD player, but with no extra speakers), the starter which we just replaced (the original rebuild-able starter is included in the sale), and the passenger door window glass. The original aluminium wheels were likely highly polished prior to its original delivery. Very fresh white-letter tires. Under the hood appearance is entirely original with all of the factory sloppiness still present. A grease pen marking from the factory is still present on the leading edge of the driver's side valve cover (see photo). Original factory air conditioning blows cold. Everything works with the exception of the clock and the oil pressure gauge. Items that are included in the sale include a fitted car cover, an unused mechanic's fender cover, an unused bra or mask, the original storage bags for the T-top roofs, original books and service manuals, and a few minor new spare parts. Driving this car is a true time-warp experience. Restored cars never drive the same as they used to, but this car does. This car deserves to be sent back East next summer to receive its award, which should be a very fun experience for its lucky new owner. It also deserves to continue to be carefully used on sunny days and let the miles gradually accumulate. Don't miss this wonderful C3 Corvette!
