2) Original LS5 454 cube 390 horse Factory Car. Now powered by a freshly built mildly modified small block (Sorry, I don’t have the LS5). I just obtained this car from a fellow dealer/restorer who took it in trade. The car is extremely straight. All door gaps, hood gaps, headlight gaps are excellent. There are no seams showing anywhere on the car. The flip up headlights work fine. The frame is very solid (see photos) with no rust other than a very light patina here and there. I have driven it over 150 miles in the past two days and it performs very well. It comes with a clear Ohio Title that states the 74,519 miles (now a few more) are original. I also have a copy of the previous title which as of the Issue Date of 2/01/2006 shows 74,101 miles. However, no slight to the state of Ohio, I cannot guarantee what they put on their titles. It’s obvious some significant bucks have been spent on the car not long ago and there have been more recent upgrades in the past few weeks. It has a beautiful high quality head turning repaint in the car’s original Marlboro Maroon color (Trim Tag Code 975) and a very nice black interior (Code 400). A nice plus, there is a fresh windshield in the car which probably went in when it was painted (Original Astro Ventilation glass in roll up door windows). I cannot tell you when all this occurred but I can tell you from decades of observation experience it hasn't been too long. No doubt the nice new front and rear bumpers went on when it was painted, as well. Also new badges and new CORVETTE lettering on the rear. Also at some point in the not too distant past the seats have been recovered and the carpet replaced. The door panels appear to be original, have the typical aftermarket arm rest covers on them and are not in bad condition at all. I’m very picky and if I were keeping the car (which may happen) I could be very happy with the interior as is with no more than a set of new seatbelts and a little spit and polish. Most importantly, the interior hasn’t been cut up or altered for aftermarket stereo speakers. Although it does have a non-working aftermarket radio. What else has been done within the past month: New Sill plates, New Door Seals, New Forward Window Seals, New Brake Calipers on all 4 corners, New Flex Lines to the Calipers, All New Hard Brake Lines in the rear, New Exhaust Bezels, New Exhaust Tips, New Firestone Firehawk Super Sport Tires, Front End Alignment New Firestone Firehawk Super Sport Tires. I’ve decoded the engine. It is a small block cast in 1975. I haven’t pulled the valve covers to decode the heads and I haven't torn it down so I do not know the internals. However, it has a menacing sounding cam in it that reminds me a whole lot of the original high performance LT-1 cam, and it has plenty of Giddy-Up so I'm putting nothing but 93 Octane in it. There is no indication that this engine is anything but fresh or that it wasn’t built by someone who knows their stuff. It lights right up, the engine idles (sweetly & menacingly) at 800 rpm. It doesn’t leak, it never smokes and it chips the tires going into second even if you are in the slightest hurry. This is also a testament to the transmission which is tight and strong. You get the usual “clunk” from the rear end when shifting into gear from park or neutral. Not unusual at all for the older automatic Vettes. They all do it, especially with a higher revving cam. To lessen that at some point down the road I would replace the driveshaft and half shaft universal joints, and possibly rebuild the pinion gear. As it is the car runs and drives fine, doesn’t pull and the new brakes work great. It’s a 40 year old car that has not been restored but has very obviously been well kept over the decades and is very, very nicely repainted and refurbished. It is in very good condition over all. This is the kind of car a true enthusiast who likes working on their machines enjoys. One they can drive, get plenty of smiles out of and be very proud of as it is from the day bought, plus enjoy spending time working on it in their garage to make it even better. March 22, 2010. 1) 350 Engine with Automatic Transmission, Power Steering and Power Brakes. This Corvette has a Very Nice Recent Burgundy Paint Job. New: Tires, Door and Pillar Weatherstrip, Sill Plates, Brake Calipers, Emblems, Exhaust Tips, Exhaust Bezels, and Ignition Wires. Front and Rear Bumper Chrome is very Nice! Carpet and Seat Covers Appears Recently done. Door Panels are older. Speedometer, Odometer, and Tachometer all Work. Aftermarket Radio needs Repair. Flip-up Headlights work Well! Hood is Aftermarket Highrise and fits car well! Kinda Looks Good Too. Frame is solid but undetailed. Engine runs Good. Transmission shifts Good. 1970 Corvette Coupes feature Removable T-Top Roofs and a Removable back window. This is a x-454 car. Many signs exist pointing to it being a big block Corvette- Front and Rear Sway Bars, Rear Differential Side Yokes, Radiator Core support, Radiator, and Fan Shroud. 74,516 miles from the odometer.
