1970 saw marginal changes to the facade of the Chevrolet Corvette. Variations in the front fenders
to eliminate debris damage, a new egg crate grill with equivalent fender vents, and larger rectangular
headlights were downright the solitary alterations compared to its predecessor. An enhanced interior
with new seats, dash and carpeting were a favorable adjustment to the car. It was the heart of this
1970 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray LT-1 that made it a prominent automobile for decades. A 1/4 mile
test of supremacy by Motor trend in 1970 dubbed the new 350 ci Corvette engine equivalent to that
of its Porsche Competition, with a more reasonable price tag. The all new LT-1 small block, solid lifter,
V8 engine produced a staggering 370 HP. Equipped with a 4 barrel Holly Carburetor, 11:1 compression,
limited restriction duel exhaust, and M21 manual close ratio 4 speed, the LT-1 made up just 7.6
percent (1,312) of the produced Vettes that year. This alone made it highly sought after then and
nothing short of treasured today. This car displaying only 41,245 original miles is nearly all original,
in near unsullied condition, and the last to harbor raw horsepower before a lead fuel guided detuning
by Chevrolet the next year. A onetime repaint, this T-top adorns the same Corvette Bronze paint;
the all-inclusive domed LT-1 decal hood, and original Rally wheels wrapped in 225/70/R15 BF
Goodrich white letter tires. Recently completed enrichments are a complete undercarriage detail,
and a new date coded windshield replacing the scratched original. The inside embraces a pristine
Saddle colored vinyl that was recently repeated. This car is all fundamental and a well sustained
vehicle all around. An American Hero, boasting the Corvette horsepower title until the early 90s, the
LT-1 was a rarity in its day and an absolute gem of this day. This stunning machine needs a new
home and caregiver who will treat it with the respect deserved by one of the few enduring 1970
Stingray LT-1s on earth!
