1972 LT1 Coupe with A/C Steel Cities Gray Frame-on Restoration. One year old frame on restored Steel Cities Gray 1972 LT-1 Corvette Coupe with factory A/C. Air conditioning was available on LT-1 Corvettes only in 1972, this is one of only 240 LT-1's built with A/C. In 1972 only 1,741 LT-1’s were produced out of the total of the 27,000 Corvettes built which includes over 3,900 LS5 454’s making the LT-1 rarer and more sought after by Corvette collectors. This fresh restoration has been painted the correct trim tag matching Steel City Gray, and still has what we believe to be the original drive train components; engine, transmission, rear end and even the alternator. This car is highly optioned with a deluxe black leather interior, power steering and brakes, A/C, PO2 wheel covers and tilt/tele steering wheel. Exterior: This LT1 Corvette has all original glass body panels that display an excellent fit. The new paint is a 2 stage base/clear in the correct Steels Cities Gray color. The rechromed bumpers and stainless parts also look like new. The car still has the original grills which are in excellent condition. Frame – Engine and Drive train: By first appearance this looks like a frame off restoration. The frame was hand sanded and repainted. New brake components and new brake lines were installed and the trailing arms were completely rebuilt along with many other frame components that were either restored or replaced. The matching numbers engine was professionally checked to LT-1 specs, and detailed and completely tuned. It starts and runs exactly as it should. The M21 close ratio Muncie transmission was rebuilt along with the 3:70 posi rear axle and new U joints installed. The suspension parts including front and rear springs and shocks are also new. The tilt/tele steering column was removed and rebuilt. This Corvette runs, drives, and handles just as impressively as it looks. It has new tires on correct rims and PO2 wheels. Interior: The interior was restored with many new components including seats, carpets. The door panels are original and in excellent condition. All of the gauges work properly and are original, and it still has the original dated seat belts. The gauge cluster and all of the console components have either been replaced or restored. It has the correct radio and clock, and they both work. The side and rear glass is also original. Options include: Air Conditioning, M21 4 Speed close ratio Trans, LT1 350 255HP Engine, 3:70 Positraction Rear Axle, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt/Tele Steering Wheel, AM/FM Radio, Tinted Windshield and Windows, Deluxe Wheel Covers, Black Leather Interior. Major component numbers: Engine Pad V0811CKY 12S500416, Block cast # 3970010, Block cast date F 8 1 (June 8 1971), Trim Tag: Paint 988, Trim 404, Build Date A 18 ( August 18). This is a very desirable LT1. It is a great color combination and is highly optioned. This Corvette has both a new restoration and many original parts. When you take this Corvette to cruise nights or car shows it will draw much attention, after all it is a 1972 LT1 Corvette with A/C. Very few people ever get the opportunity to own a vehicle like this. Colors from the trim plate. Built date is A18. October 23, 2009. |
