Car history:
2) This is the Real Deal. Numbers Matching; Climate Controlled Storage for the past 13 Years. Never Restored, All Original other then one repaint to Black...Original Factory 986- "Silver Stone" Color Name Change to "Cortez Silver" in 1969; same color. This is a Numbers Matching 427 435HP Tri-Power L71 Convertible, 4-Speed ! First Year Stingray Body Style L71! 1967 L71 Restored are $250K cars and a 1968 L88 Restored is a $250K car. The Story on this Great Car is that it's a two Owner car, Original Owner was Mindy McLoven (yes-not made up, name on Original Dealers Book) at Ken Conroy Chevrolet and she could never drive the car because it was too fast for her. She traded the car for a less powerful Chevelle about 1 year later and the second owner purchased the car from the dealer and had the car painted black and the side pipes added. The second owner put most of the Original 52K Miles on her and only was caught in the rain once said his son, whom I got the car from. His father loved the car and could never drive it in the rain because it was too powerful. I was also told back in 1969 the Original Owner had the tri-Power Intake removed and replaced with a LS6 4bbl Intake for better reliability. The Original Intake and Carb setup was unable to be found and the current intake is from what I was told a Rare LS6 Intake and on the car. The car was built on 3-12-1968, to find a correct intake and carburetor setup; you will need one within 3-4 weeks prior to this date. After a personal inspection; here is what I’ve found. WHAT WORKS - Lights and front headlights work perfect, turn signals, Tach, Oil Pressure, Volt Meter, Wiper Latch, Temp Gauge, Seat Belt Light, Door Ajar Light, Brake Light, Conv. Latch, AM/FM Radio...NOT SURE - Fuel Gauge....DOES NOT WORK - Clock, Wipers don’t come up; but the flip up latch works; the Brakes seam to have a large leak, stops but the peddle is on the floor. Many of the Original Parts are the Wood Steering Wheel, All the Interior, Trim around the car and Chrome (Bumpers are in Excellent Condition) and the Red-line Spare Tire that had never been removed prior to me. The Wheels and tires on the car are Vintage American Racing Wheels and Vintage BFG Radial T/A's that are Not Dry Rotten...Again this baby was in a high dollar Climate Controlled Storage by the second owners family. So other then the Paint Color (one repaint) and the Intake and Carb setup, I have been told everything else is original. I was told she has No Accident History, No Body Work Ever...it looks correct and all the panels, doors, hood and lights all line up perfect. All the trim lines up Perfect....this is a Perfect Start for a $100K Plus Corvette. Great Factory Color Combo and all the Right Options....Also, the Tank Sticker has Not been removed, the tire was clearly never removed and the Tank sticker should still be in place, under the gas Tank. 52,028 miles. April 27, 2009.
1) Car is all original (interior, paint, engine). Has been in family for over 25 years, kept in storage for almost 98% of that time. Runs well, drives, has some minor scuffs around edges on hood and needs rear wheel bearing replaced. Recently replaced water pump, but have original for rebuild. We believe it may be a L71.
The engine numbers are T0301IR 18S413519. Car is original (interior, paint, engine). 52,028 miles. Colors from the owner. December 11, 2008.
