| Car history: |
1970 Corvette coupe with removable T-tops and rear window. (non matching numbers.) A very nice Corvette that I found last summer in a garage in Butte Montana. From what I am told I am the 3rd owner. The first owner had it from 1970 until 1991 and restored it in 1989. the 2nd owner whom I bought it from was a elderly man who bought it in 1991 and sold it to me in 2012. He kept it in his garage under a cover and said he had not had it on the street since 2001. He would start it up a few times a year but that is all. The tags on the car when I bought it had expired in 2001 so that was my proof. The week he sold it to me he put it into the shop and had all 4 new disc brake calipers replaced along with new pads. I checked it out and yes they are brand new. Bob, the man I bought it from had a note from the original owner this is what it says: Rebuilt in 1989 at 61,048 miles 1970 Corvette sport coupe with astro ventilation removable T-tops and rear window. Engine- 1972 Corvette 350 V-8 bored .045 over with a crowler 290 cam, steel crank, High rise Weind tunnel ram with daul 700 straight carbs ( no choke ) , electric fuel pump. 425 HP (Bob told me he has since replaced the cam with a stock cam.) transmission- 1972 Corvette close shift 4 speed with a 353 rear end. Interior and exterior- Completly redone in 1989 and repainted Forest green metallic with gold pearl and clear coat. All rocker panels new grills, bumpers and Excell dual point ignition. (original color was green.) Now for what I know about this car:
I keep it garage kept under a cover which will be included with the car. Starts every time and cruises just fine, I have had it up to 80mph on the intersate once just to see how it drives. Clutch seems perfect engaging a hair off the floor. No smoke, knocks or drips. Everything seems tight and I would drive this anywhere right now. I cruise it around town on sunny days. Nice custom pouches to store the T-tops in when they are off the car. Whats wrong- Someone has removed adjusters from rear emergancy brake assembly so E- brake does not work. I have new shoes and spring kit waiting to be installed (included in sale.)
Speedometer not hooked up so actual milage is unknown (have not looked at this yet.) Turn signal switch has to be held on for right turns. I have new turn signal switch waiting to be installed. (Included with sale.) Voltage gage in dash not hooked up but temp gage works and fuel gage works, factory clock does not. Vacuum controlled wiper door not working. I have it in the open position. I have not gotten into this yet but dosn't seem to be a hard fix. Vacuum controlled head lights work just fine. Small seep from thermostat housing. I was gonna just put a new gasket in.
A few small chips in the paint which are shown in the pictures. |
