This auction is for a 1978 L-48 Silver Anniversary Edition Corvette coupe, with 106,000 actual miles. It has a 350 engine & TH350 automatic transmission, and has been garage kept most of its life. It’s super fun to drive, and constantly gets “Hey, nice Vette, man” compliments wherever it’s driven. The car has the original silver & gray paint with nice black interior. It’s equipped with, a tilt & telescopic steering column, power door locks, power windows, fiberglass t-tops, aluminum wheels, Panasonic stereo / CD player, power antenna, air conditioning & a rear window defogger. The Corvette has a good set of Firestone Firehawk tires, it's rust free, and all the guages work; even the clock! This classic is mostly all original with the exception of the engine, which has a lower mileage long block from a 1973 Corvette (same casting number as the original & assembled with all of the original ’78 bolt-on parts). It also has a newer style C3 Corvette upswept rear bumper, and a true dual exhaust system (less cats). Mechanically this Corvette is super dependable, runs & shifts well, and tracks straight as an arrow, with no abnormal tire wear. As with any un-restored 34 year old car there are a few issues. The A/C doesn’t work (needs new compressor & receiver dryer); the factory cruise control doesn’t work (missing some parts). Cosmetically there are a few minor cracks in the body; some paint that’s bubbling on the hood and some areas that have been primed after repair of some parking lot scrapes. However, the original paint on this car is still bright & glossy, so only spot repair & blending of new paint into the old paint would bring the body back to exceptional condition. The silver anniversary color scheme on this car commemorates Corvette’s 25th year of production, making it completely unique among other C3 Corvettes.
