| Car history: |
1979 metallic blue Corvette with T-tops in excellent condition, highly modified throughout entire car. After market high-rise fiberglass hood to accommodate the high intake manifold and filter assembly with filtered lid. The L82 engine has been completely rebuilt using a Edelbrok Performer rpm rebuild kit (aluminum intake, heads with Crane aluminum roller rockers and matching cam). The engine already had a forged steel crank but I used a new balanced set of forged piston rods with Keith Black signature series hypereutectic pistons. It has a Demon 650 carb, Edelbrock high flow fuel pump, Meling high flow oil pump, new oil pan, high flow aluminum water pump, Be-Cool Aluminum radiator and duel fan module, 1 7/8" Dynomax ceramic coated headers, 2 1/2" duel exhaust with cross-over tube and Magnaflow straight through performance mufflers. New ARP hardware and Felpro gaskets were used through-out entire build. It has a high performance set of March 1 pulleys and a high amp alternator. The kit was supposed to make 420 horse power but with the extra high performance parts I used I believe it is making about at least 20 more HP than that. The transmission is a Bowtie Overdrives stage 3 700R4 automatic with overdrive with 2800 rpm stall converter and new light weight tubular aluminum crossover bar and mounting bracket, posi rear-end with 396 gears, rebuilt driveshaft and new u-joints on main and half shafts.
The interior is blue and has new carpet, new leather seat covers with new foam, new leather door panels custom built speaker box, new Sony high output stereo/cd, new Rockford Fosgate 4"x6" front speakers and new Boston Acustics 6"x9" speakers in rear box. The instrument panels were customized with a carbon fiber look to except new digital gauges.
The exterior has a new 1980 style rear bumper with custom spoiler wing, ground effects side skirts that were blended in with fiberglass with no visible seams just like the rear bumper has no seams. has Indy style front spoiler and new fiberglass front bumper. the old mechanical headlights were replaced with a kit that uses rectangle lights and a Plexiglas cover and the rear lights have the buble lense aftermarket kit. It has a new front window, new window trim front and rear, rear window louver painted to match, new smoked glass T-Tops with padded suitcase for storage. The fiberglass high-rise hood has two vents for extra cooling and a flame grille installed for looks and to keep out debris. The underside of the hood is completely covered with duel sided metalic material to protect the paint finish and for insulation. When the car was painted it was striped down to fiberglass and all imperfections were repaired. Then it was painted with metallic blue pearl paints and ghost flames. It is truly a one of a kind.
The suspension has new front heavy duty 550 lbs rate coil springs with the matching rate advanced composite rear single leaf spring and new Bilisten high performance shocks at all 4 corners. It has new larger diameter sway bars front and rear with polyurethane bushings. Goodyear Eagle F1 tires 255x45 ZR 18 in the rear and 245x45 ZR 18 up front. It has new Stainless Steel Brake Corporation (SSBC) aluminum calipers, slotted rotors and high performance brake shoes, and a new master cylinder. There is still room for more improvements, I was going to install a rack and pinion steering kit, aluminum upper control arms from Mid America Motor Works and polyurethane bushings all around. And I am sure who ever the lucky buyer is can think up more ideas to put there own personal touches into the car.
There was a little over70,000 miles on the odometer when I bought the car in upstate Illinois. I drove it another 1000 before I rebuilt the engine and there is a little over 5,800 miles on the new Odometer which was changed at the same time as the engine rebuild. This car drives as good as it looks, takes turns like it is on a rail and I would feel perfectly comfortable driving it across country just as it sits. It has been housed in my garage since I purchased it. I have most of the receipts for the parts that I used restoring and hot-roding this car. I have around $40,000 invested not to mention the countless hours I spent working on it. I really hate parting with it but hope to build another car in the future. The attached pictures show the progress of the car since I bought it. It was a very dark blue that looks black in the photo at the sellers house and it has been painted two times since then, ending up metallic blue with the ghost flames. My thanks goes out to Kenny and Dean at Kenny's Body Shop, Steve at Auto tech for all his help and Johnson's Machine for building a perfect motor.
The original transmission, hood, Wheels with new General Graber 255 x 60R 15 tires and swept back style tri-star hubs and some misc. parts will go with the car. The buyer will have to arrange for shipment but I will work with them as best as I can to help, although I am disabled now and unable to lift much weight. I would suggest a large flat bed trailer (20’ of flat space or more) for the car and the transmission which is in a wooden crate and a pickup to carry the wheels, hood and extra parts. Or it could be driven and have a pickup with smaller trailer for all the parts. I will accept payment with chashiers check, money order or cash at time of delivery. This car is worth every penny and more of the starting price I am asking. Oh did I mention it is also very fast.
