1968 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible Bronze # 992 327/350 HP Engine 82,625 Mi. This car was purchased in June 2012 as a Barn Find car. The car had not been registered or run since 2004. The previous owner, was its second owner and he had it for 29 years. The car did start, the purchase was made, and it was put on a flat bed and moved to a Corvette restoration shop. Over the next two months the car had the following work done and new items installed (receipts to be provided): Front and Rear Rotors, Front Calipers, Battery, Brake pads front and rear, Brake Lines, B.F. Goodrich tires, Manifolds, Mufflers, Points, Plugs, Plug Wires, Distributor, Valve Cover Gaskets, Fuel Pump, Wiper Motor, Headlight Switch, E-Brake Cable, Vacuum Control Modules (2) (The headlights and wiper door cover bracket work very nicely), Small spot of rust in frame in front of left rear wheel was cut out replaced primed and undercoated. Done by Ron's Auto Restoration Specializing in Corvette's for over 30 years. Complete Carburetor Rebuild from Hobb's Carburetor Shop, Pelham, NH, New Head liner, Alternator, Cooling Fan, Chrome air Cleaner and filter, Convertible top locking pins. The interior is black and original with no material rips in the seats. The carpet looks as though it might have been replaced at some point, but is in good shape. The door panels are in good shape. The side window guides may have to be replaced, but the windows do work well manually. Drive train: The 327/ 350 hp original engine runs strongly. It does not burn oil. When purchased, the odometer did not work. The previous owner said that after it had stopped working he may have put about 1,000 miles on it before taking the car off the road in 2004. Because of the inoperative odometer the title has a Discrepancy remark. Since putting it on the road, about 4 tanks of gas were put in it in 2013, including storing for last winter. Thus, it might have another 1,000 miles since it was registered. The 4 speed manual transmission shifts very nicely in all gears. The gauges work (except for the odometer and the clock) and the engine cooling system works great. The heater fan does not work and hasn't been repaired (never really needed it in the summer). Exterior and Top: The convertible top is in great shape. It is a manual retraction and works smoothly. There are no rips in the top. The paint is Corvette Bronze # 992 and it appears it has been painted at some point. There are a few blemishes, but nothing severe and the body lines are straight. The spare tire carrier may need to have its locking latch replaced. BIN $34,000. May 10, 2014. |
