Car history:
1972 NCRS TOP FLIGHT ROADSTER. I Am A Retired Private Party Collector And Hobbyist Here In South Florida. This Particular Car Belonged To A Friend Of Mine Who Originally Bought The Car For His Wife. She Was Supposed To Drive It To Local Shows And Enjoy The Car For What It Was, A Very Nice Orange Convertible. Since Her Husband Was An NCRS Judge Things Didn’t Go As Planned (They Rarely Do). Once He Got His Hands On It Things Started To Come Off, Paint Started To Get Striped And I Think You Can Sort Of Finish The Story Yourself. Me Like A Helpful Type Of Guy That I Am Asked The Stupid Question “Would You Like Some Help With The Resto??” And Oh Well There I Was All The Time Working On The Chassis And Engine Compartment Making It As Nice As It Could Be. He Then Comes Up With The Bright Idea, All Numbers Match, It’s In Great Condition “Let’s get It Ready For Flight Judging”. My Answer Was “Sounds Like A Plan” And That’s Exactly What We Did. The Original Interior Was In Fairly Nice Condition But Needed Freshening Up so Rather Then Fool around A whole New Interior Was Installed and It Came Out Fantastic. All The Gauges Were Sent Out To Be Restored And Anything Left Was Either Purchased New Or Restored. The Outside Was In Great Condition, There Is No Evidence Of Any Previous Body Damage. Being His brother Owns A Body Shop Out It Went To Get A Beautiful New Ontario Orange Base Coat Clear Coat Finish And By The Way The Gloss On This Car Is Amazing. Next Came The Mechanics And Again Anything That Needed Restoring Or Replacing Was Done. (There Are Two Folders Full Of Receipts). The Underneath Was Freshened Up, New Tires and Wheels Were Added And Off To The NCRS Judging Field We Went. Enter 2005 And After The Final Judging Was Done The Eagerly Awaited Score Was Given……93.2….. Just A Hair Off Top Flight And A Real High Regional Second Flight. With Disappointment Lingering The Car Was Brought Home To Go Over Everything Again And Make Sure Top Flight Was Obtainable For The Next Year. Enter 2006 and Here The Car Is back On The Judging Field and Everything Is going Well However Since There Are All Different Judges Every Time You Never Know What Is Going To Happen. Here We Are A Year later Eagerly Awaiting The Score ……94.2….. Yes A Regional Top Flight Was Achieved And Everyone Could Now Take A Sigh Of Relief That All Our Hard Work Paid Off. This Car Is Not A Highly Optioned Car But Makes Up For It In Sheer Looks. Options Are As Follows: #’s Matching Engine & Drive Train, Automatic Trans., Power Steering, Power Brakes, AM/FM radio, A/C, Original Tank Sticker (Verified By NCRS), Judging Sheets And Top Flight Ribbon. Not Too Long After The Top Flight Judging Was Achieved The Owners Wife Passed Away And The Car Just sat In The Garage Collecting Dust. It Took a While But He Finally Decided To Put The Car Up For Sale And Sold It To One Of His Good Friends Who Has Just Recently Decided To Put It Back Up For Sale. He Got His Friend So Involved In Vettes He Purchased A New C6 Pace Car And Doesn’t Have The Garage Space For Two Corvettes And His Mercedes. So After A Difficult Choice He decided The 72 Should Be The One To Go. 86,184 miles from the odometer. April 29, 2010.
