Car history:
This is an original numbers matching - original color - ORIGINAL MOTOR 1972 T-Top Coupe. Body never cracked or repaired - paint is so nice I must assume that it was repainted at some point but do not know for sure. While this car has never been restored, it has obviously been meticulously maintained and garaged since new. Absolutely NO RUST anywhere on the frame or birdcage. I have owned this car since 2004 and all I have done to it is change the oil, heater core, brake pads, points & condenser (remember them?) and add a new set of Firestones. It has the original base L48 350 with Turbo 400 transmission with the pop out rear window. In 72 Chevy left off the HP decal on the air breather because they switched to Rear Wheel HP Ratings to please the insurance companies. GM didn't want to advertise that it was now rated at only 200 hp even though it was the same 270 hp motor as in the 71 model. I charged the AC about 2 years ago and it still blows ice cold today. Originally a California car that I bought in Oklahoma and drove it nonstop (except for gas & food) 865 miles to Georgia. It never missed a beat and got 15 mpg all the way home. The compression is perfect on all eight cylinders. It has a few door dings in the paint that are probably older than you. No oil or transmission leaks and it drives better than any C3 I've owned and I had a couple of NEW ones. Stops arrow straight. Factory AC, PS, PB, Tilt/Tele Steering. Headlights and wipers and wiper door work like new. The original headlight "hiders" are still behind the front grill although most folks have never seen a set. Those are the black flaps behind the grill so the headlights didn't show behind the grill when the lights were down. Seats and carpets are like new with ZERO cracks on the dash or console. AM-FM radio sounds lousy but I refuse to alter the original dash to install a modern radio. All rubber is in great shape with No T-Top Leaks. You could restore it if you wanted to but it is such a nice original car I wouldn't bother. Restoration of this car would ruin it. It's worth more as a Survivor that restored. I have put about 3000 miles on it since 2004. Definitely one of the best preserved Survivors you will ever see. $26,750. 55,792 miles. Color codes from the owner. May 31, 2010.
