| Car history: |
07/11/2012 Pictures 11-26 From current owner: I am selling my 1971 Corvette. I purchased this car about two years ago from a dealer in Massachusetts. It was delivered and stored in my garage the entire time. My intentions were to restore the car for my wife but now she says she wants my Camaro instead. I am only hoping to get what I have in the car back out of the sale. I have only driven the car once around the neighborhood and with the exception of replacing the fuel lines to the gas tank that were leaking, I have done nothing else to it. The previous owner says the engine was replaced shortly before I purchased it. It runs well and is a 1975 model 350 per the numbers on the block. The engine appears clean and has a very new looking carburetor. It definitely has a cam in it but still idles with no issues. The oil pressure is very good at 65-70 pounds at idle. The transmission appears to be the original wide ratio Muncie 4 speed and did not display any problems or shifting issues at all, nor did the rest of the drive line. The transmission is attached to an inline 4 speed racing shifter which is kind of hard to find as an aftermarket piece but also takes some getting used to. I will include a stock shifter and linkage with the sale in case you want to change it back. The front and rear suspension appear to be original and in decent condition for their age. One thing I did notice on the test drive is that the car came with no factory power steering and is a bear to turn corners in. I would definitely add a power steering kit if I were keeping it. The brakes are working ok and did not display any issues. The body appears to be in decent condition overall. I lightly sanded the primer down to check out what was underneath. The first thing I noticed was that someone had replaced the original front end glass with a 69 front. This was ok with me at the time since I find it more attractive but of course it is up to the new owner whether to retain it or not. I did not notice any damage to the front suspension or frame and the panels seem to line up well which leads me to believe the car has not been in an accident. It appears that the swap was done well. I have the front bumper and most of the body moldings. The original mirrors were missing when I got the car. The original colors were classic white exterior with a red interior. Someone has dyed the interior black prior to my buying the car. The windows and windshield are all in good condition as are the t-tops. The interior is intact but shows some wear and is in need of a complete replacement if you plan to restore the car. It is ok for a driver though while you restore it. The wheels are the original rallys with the derby caps. The tires will need replacement. The car has a new stainless chambered exhaust system from the exhaust manifolds back. I will include a set of used chrome Hooker side pipe headers, side tubes and new mufflers if the bidding goes past 7,000 dollars which is my reserve price. A couple of issues with the car include a missing cover for the windshield wiper channel but the wipers are functioning. The car was ordered without AC originally and it will be up to the buyer to add this option if they choose. The car came with a bill of sale and a previous Rhode Island registration. I was told that Rhode Island does not require a title, only a registration so it will be up to the buyer to register the vehicle and obtain a new title if they are required to. I will provide a bill of sale and the Rhode Island registration with the sale. This car appears to be a good candidate for a restoration and is running and drivable as it sits. The older Corvettes are getting hard to find in this condition to be restored and that is why I bought it originally. I wish you all the best of luck bidding on her and want her to go to a good home and be appreciated. eBay Item number: 271014092294
