THE TITLE IS DATED 11/16/78. I KNEW THE ORIGINAL OWNER THAT LIVED WITHIN 100 MILES. AT THE TIME OF OWNERSHIP TRANSFER, THE ORIGINAL OWNER SAID THE IDs ON THE BLOCK WERE NOT THE SAME AS THE CAR. HE SAID HE WAS TOLD THE REASON WAS THAT DURING THE STRIKE IN 71, WHEN THIS CAR WAS BUILT, SOME OF THE HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINES LEFT OVER FROM 1970 WERE PUT IN A VERY SMALL NUMBER OF 1971s. THIS MAKES SENSE, SINCE ONLY 8 CARS HAD THIS ENGINE IN 1971. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO VERIFY THIS WITH SOMEONE THAT IS A CORVETTE EXPERT AND WAS EMPLOYED AT THE PLANT AT THAT TIME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT HAS BEEN VERIFIED, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR IT STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH. (I WILL REPORT IMMEDIATELY WHEN I HEAR BACK) REGARDLESS, THIS AN LT1 WITH AN LT1 MOTOR. THE MILES ARE ACTUAL. FOR DECADES, DUE TO HEALTH REASONS, THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN EXCEPT ON VERY LIMITED OCCAISIONS, BUT STARTED REGULARLY. THIS CAR IS INCREDIBLE! IT ALSO HAS THE '1 OF 130' HD M22 4 SPEED TRANSMISSIONS. WHEN YOU START THIS CAR UP, IT BRINGS YOU BACK TO THE LATE 60s/ EARLY 70s. BACK WHEN YOU COULD BUY RAW POWER FROM THE FACTORY! IT HAS FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING, BUT THE CLUTCH APPEARS TO BE OUT ON THE COMPRESSOR. IF I CAN LOCATE THE IGNITION SHIELDING, I WILL INCLUDE IT. IF I CAN'T FIND IT, YOU CAN EASILY FIND IT AFTERMARKET OR ON THE NET. THE COLOR IS MILLE MIGLIA RED WITH BLACK INTERIOR. THERE IS NO BETTER COMBINATION. THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS SHOWING A LITTLE WEAR AND THE PASSENGER DOOR PANEL SHOWS A LITTLE REPAIR ON THE ARMREST WHERE THEY ALL CRACKED. YOU WILL WANT TO REPAINT THIS CAR TO BRING IT TO IT'S FULL POTENTIAL. THE PAINT JOB LOOKS LIKE CRAP AND THIS CAR DESERVES 'PRISTINE PAINT'. THIS WOULD ALSO TAKE CARE OF THE 2 OR 3 SCRATCHES / CHIPS I NOTICED. I TOOK PICTURES OF THE BLOCK #s. SOME OF THEM I COULDN'T PHOTO, BUT I WILL LIST THEM. RIGHT FRONT OF BLOCK: #70S416826 & #V0709CTJ. I HAVE FOUND NO LEAKS UNDER CAR. IT HAS EXCELLENT OIL PRESSURE, BUT THE OIL PRESSURE GUAGE DOES NOT WORK. MY EXPERT SAYS "NOFUGGINWAY". THE FRONT PAD #s WOULD MATCH THE CAR SERIAL # NO MATTER WHAT. SO, EVIDENTLY SOMETIME BEFORE 1978 THE 71 MOTOR WAS CHANGED FOR A 70. I WILL TRY TO CONTACT THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND SEE WHAT THE SCOOP WAS. THE 'CTJ' DESIGNATION ON THE FRONT BLOCK PAD MEANS IT IS A 1970 350/350 WITH PERFORMANCE CAM, A/C, 4-SPEED. THE CAR HAS PERFORMANCE CAM, A/C, AND 4SPEED. THE CONSOLE SPECIFICATION PAD, AS SEEN IN THE PICTURES, SAYS 350HP/350ci. THE LT1s HAD AN LT1 HOOD, WHICH WAS DIFFERENT. IN 1970 THEY WERE 370hp AND IN 1971 THEY WERE 330hp, SO THIS 1970 350/350hp IS NOT AN LT1 MOTOR AND FALLS IN THE MIDDLE BETWEEN THE 330hp AND THE 370hp LT1s. THIS IS NOT A 1 IN 8 CAR. HOWEVER, IT MAY BE A 1 AND ONLY 1971 CORVETTE WITH A 1970 350/350! I AM GOING TO CANCEL THIS AUCTION AND COME BACK WHEN I HAVE ALL THE FACTS STRAIGHT.
