Car history: |
Perhaps one of the fastest growing segments of the collector car market are the 1968 to 1973 Corvettes also know as the Chrome Bumper Years. These cars represent the 4th major style change for Chevrolets flagship sports car and one of only 2 American made 2 seater sports/muscle cars. Riding a wave of vast market popularity, Chevrolet rolled out its newly restyled Corvette in 1968 and added several performance engine configurations as well as more optional equipment. LNS Performance Motocars owner has owned this stunning Tuxedo Black 427 390 horsepower 4 speed Corvette Roaster for the last year and was bought direct from the warm dry climate of Southern California. Equipped with its original numbers matching and healthy 427 CID 390 HP Chevy big block and 4 speed transmission, this car still boasts a host of original components not often found even on the most highly restored and correct Corvettes including: original block, cylinder heads, intake manifold, valve covers, transmission, rear end, radiator and overflow tank. Originally finished in LeMans Blue over black color combination, this older cosmetically restored Corvette roadster is a superb example of Chevrolets greatest contribution to the automotive arena and was built for speed. Original features were the convertible top in black, 4-sp close ratio transmission (M-21), White lettered tires and that's it! Manual steering, no A/C, non-telescoping wheel, etc.... working factory AM/FM radio, working instrumentation including clock, new tires and much more. This numbers matching and code correct Vette is among the rarest examples available. Prices for these vintage big block equipped Corvettes are already pushing the $70,000 mark and will continue to grow. For the astute collector and enthusiast, this is truly a unique opportunity seize the moment as moments like this are few and far between. Odometer is showing 71,025 miles and we belive it to be correct (and is reflected on the title). Casting number on block is 3969512. VIN is on engine pad. The original intake (included with the car) was removed for a small crack on one of the carburetor bolt down holes. An Edlebrock Performer was installed with an Edlebrock carburetor and the engine runs flawless. Of course none of this fit under the original stock hood so we added an L88 style hood (original hood included). Over $25K has been spent on this car in the last 4 years on various systems. Since the car was in Southern CA for 90%+ of its life, there is little to no rust on the frame. Lots of original parts and most everything works. There is just too much to list about this car and we encourage you to call us for a more in depth description. January 2, 2008. Paint 976. trim ZQ4. |
