| Car history: |
Posted 08/23/2016 A rare and beautifully restored 1974 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Roadster. In 1974, Chevrolet made 37,502 Corvettes. Of those, only 5,474 were Convertibles. Of those Convertibles, only 367 had a vinyl removable hardtop. And if we kept narrowing it down, the 4-speed manual transmission, L-82 engine, and factory A/C would make it even more rare. This car is indeed interesting and you will be hard-pressed to find another one like it. EVERYTHING is 100-percent numbers matching, and it looks even better in person. It is powered by a numbers matching L-82 350cid/250hp V8 engine mated to a 4-speed close ratio manual transmission with rear-wheel drive. The engine and car have less than 40k original miles. The car was originally white but was just professionally finished in black. The interior is new and remains the same color from the day it left the factory, trim 425 vinyl dark red. The red convertible soft top is also new as well as the vinyl finish on the removable hardtop (see photos). You essentially get three different curb appeals for this Corvette with three different tops. This Corvette's first owner was a funeral director in upstate New York, where the car sat in his estate until being released after his death. Our client has owned the vehicle here in Michigan for a few years, going over it in detail to make sure everything works as it should. The brakes, soft top, carpet, gas tank, fuel lines, fuel pump, and tires are all new. The carb was rebuilt, engine tuned, and wheels aligned as well. The car is just as clean underneath as the body is with no rust and no bondo. It fires on command and runs/drives extremely well. A great classic Vette at a reasonable price for its rarity. Always garage-kept.
