Car history:
2) This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette remains all original and has just 85,140 miles. The car is powered by the original and numbers matching 350ci/270hp V8 and original Muncie M20 4-Speed manual gearbox. Other noteworthy factory features include Power Steering, Power Windows, Power Brakes, Air Conditioning, and Tilt/ Telescopic Steering Column. Matching T-tops and removable back glass are in great condition and they all function properly. Both the paint and interior are in great condition. The car fires on command, runs strong, and shifts smooth. $18,300 (RnM) on May 18, 2018.
1) I am listing this 1971 Chevrolet Corvette for my friend Paul who does not have an eBay account. Paul has owned this Corvette for a little over 11 years. In that time he has put approximately 1500-2000 miles on the car. He has a full time job with 3 children and doesn't have a lot of time to enjoy his Corvette. Now with 2 children in college and his 3rd a senior in high school this upcoming year, he has decided to part ways with his Corvette. The car is a 1971 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe. It has a documented 84,000 original miles on the matching numbers 350. I have been a car guy for over 30 years and I know what I'm looking at in a classic car. I have taken several pictures of the engine stamping to confirm that the last 4 digits of the VIN match the stamping on the engine pad on the passenger side of the engine block. This is a matching numbers car! I would consider this Corvette a strong candidate for the title of a survivor car. It's darn near all original and completely unmolested. Yes it has in fact received a re-paint but the car was painted in it's original color of Classic White. Other than a repaint and a new aluminum radiator, this car is all original. The motor, trans, and rear are all original to the car with matching numbers. The interior is the factory code 412 dark blue and is in unmolested condition. The body on the car is all original. Yes it has had one repaint several years ago but it has been garage kept since. As expected on a car that was at one point driven frequently, the paint does have a scratch and chip here and there. Remember this car was driven originally and then stored safely in a garage to preserve it. The best part about the condition of the body is that it's not riddled with stress cracks or paint cracking due to the flexing of the fiberglass body. All of the common stress areas of Corvettes are still in excellent condition. The Classic White paint still looks very good. My honest opinion of the paint is that a good detail would make this car look fantastic. In essence while some day this car may need a repaint. I honestly believe that it's not immediately necessary. You could drive and enjoy this car for years without needing to repaint it. The frame and suspension is all clean and rust free. This car came from Georgia and has ZERO rust underneath. It was garage kept by it's previous owner and Paul has kept it covered and garaged for the 11 years that he has owned it. The shining points on this car are good ones. For starters as stated above this car has only 84,000 original miles. Paul ha a stack of receipts dating back over 15 years documenting mileage. The motor is without a doubt original to the car. The last 4 digits of the VIN clearly match the stampings on the engine ID pad. This is a factory A/C car. Everything for the factory A/C is still in place and operating properly. The A/C doesn't blow ice cold and most likely would just need a recharge. A benefit to this car is that it has been swapped to R-134 Freon to save the hassle of paying top dollar for the old R-12 Freon. This is a 4 speed car. That's a HUGE bonus as far as I'm concerned. A Corvette just HAS to be a stick shift car. There's nothing finer than rowing your own gears in a classic car. This car has the number's matching Muncie 4 speed trans hooked to the factory 4 speed shifter. Paul does have receipts for the shifter itself being rebuilt over the years. The car runs strong and shifts smoothly through all the gears. The entire rear axle assembly has been rebuilt just 2000 miles ago. The rear differential, posi unit, and all bearings were rebuilt or replaced. Paul has a $1700 receipt for all the work that was done as well as another separate receipt for over $2K for having the entire rear suspension rebuilt using all new U-joints, strut rods, shocks, shock brackets, all new brake lines, brake hoses, rebuilt spindles, and the installation of a new fiberglass rear spring. The interior of the car is in outstanding condition. Remember this is a survivor style interior. It's all original from 1971 but is in excellent condition. The seats are factory as well as the console, dash, and gauge assembly. Nothing has been modified or replaced. All interior lights work properly as well as wipers, and gauges. If you were to take a day and really do a nice detail and cleaning to this interior, you'd see that it simply does NOT need to be replaced. Again, more survivor than anything. EVERYTHING works on this car. Both vacuum headlights as well as the vacuum operated wiper door work. I have taken 2 YouTube video's of the car for you to see how everything operates as it should. All gauges, and wipers work as well as power windows, heat, and A/C. Paul has always had the car serviced at a Corvette specific shop locally. The car also comes with its original Protecto-plate as well as the original T-top bags. Another nice option on this car is an operational removable rear window. So if you're not an A/C guy, you can take off the T-tops, remove the rear window, and really enjoy some open air driving in your classic Corvette. This 71 Corvette is original and unmolested. It has been stored safely over the last 20 plus years. It's a great version of a survivor type car that is turn key and ready to drive right now. As stated the owner has a stack of receipts documenting all the work done to the car. Everything works as it should and it has the added bonus of being low mileage, with a number's matching motor, a 4 speed trans, and factory A/C. I can email out a PDF file of the receipts for the car as well as any additional pictures you might require. I have a lot of extra pictures and I'll be glad to email them to you. I'm also going to attach the 2 youtube video's that I shot so you can really see in detail how this car looks and sounds. Please feel free to ask any additional questions.
If you are interested in viewing the Youtube videos, you can search YouTube under 71 Corvette Doylestown PA and 71 Corvette Doylestown PA wipers and headlights.
I have received several questions concerning pictures of the frame. We have 2 friends who have lifts at their homes. I am working on getting Paul's Corvette to a lift where I will take additional pictures and a video of the undercarriage. I will update the auction as soon as I get this additional information. Sold for $17,000 on July 16, 2017.
