Posted 05/13/2016 Stunning second owner 1982 Corvette Stingray. I would rate the paint and body on this car as 8 to 8.5 as the paint is bright, deep and shiny although some minor flaws and paint chips are present. The only engine available in the 1982 Corvette was the unique Cross Fire Injected 350 cubic inch V8 which to this day remains torquey, powerful, and surprisingly efficient thanks to a 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission as standard equipment. The idea was simple, having two diagonally opposing fuel injected throttle bodies sitting atop a custom all aluminum intake manifold; the look is totally unique and the torque is instantaneous. Considering how many Cross Fire cars have been modified over the years, it is nice to see one that's actually numbers matching, almost completely stock under the hood. The Vette starts quickly, and snaps through the gears with authority, making for an entertaining V8 drive. The undercarriage is mostly original, again with proper maintenance along the way so it still works like it should. I would rate the drive train on the Stingray as a strong 8.5 to 9 as the Vette it truly runs like a champ and pulls hard. The seat covers are soft and free of rips or tears of any kind, as are the door panels, center console and armrest. The carpets are in great shape as are the factory floor mats. The Corvette's dash hasn't been baked by the sun (although there is one small crack which is inevitable on any vintage Corvette). The gauges show crisp markings, is loaded with options like power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, a tilt and telescopic steering column, rear defrost, The mirrored T-tops are also in flawless condition. The glass tops seal tightly and the weather-stripping remains soft and subtle. The open-air experience with the Corvette's glass tops removed is like none other and perfect for the approaching summer months! I would rate the interior of this classic Corvette as an 8.5 to 9 as it is free of any rips, tears, stains, smells or otherwise. This is a distinctive, fun-to-drive classic C3 Corvette that's extremely affordable, fun to drive and in exceptionally good condition overall. This is not a concourse show vehicle but a super clean and well maintained example that can be driven and enjoyed right away. |
