| 1968 Corvette 427 390HP engine automatic transmission. This is a pretty original car with the only parts not correct are small parts on the engine (valve covers, exhaust manifolds, fan, alternator, carburetor, distributor). The engine and cylinder heads are original to the car. The engine suffix is IQ (427 390HP automatic transmission). The suffix is clear and the last 5 of the vin is present on the block (see pic). Engine was rebuilt and runs very well. No smoke no noise runs cool with no overheating. Transmission shifts perfectly with no issues. All new calipers and master cylinder and the brake are right at the top and stops straight. Frame and birdcage are solid. No hit body with original paint. The dash is very nice no cracks, has headrest seat option and has been reupholstered. The wheels are original AG code 15x7 with the correct center caps and 4 clip beauty rings. Has the correct valance panel with reverse lamps and the correct 1968 only big block hood. All the wiper door and wiper vent is correct for 1968. Still has the spare tire carrier and the correct rocker moldings. This is a great 427 big block Corvette that runs and drives very well. Last week we drove this car on an 80mile trip with not any problems. I have got more casting numbers and date codes now. Here they are. Side glass is XX February 1968. The back glass is VZ December 1967. The windshield is CZ November 1967. The block casting number is 3916321 and the date is L 8 7. December 1967. The rear end code is AW heavy duty 427 308 rear gear. The car is equipped with a rear sway bar and the bigger front coil springs. Sold for $17,050 on July 24, 2016. |
