1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 Clone. 427, 4 Speed with side exhaust. Original Big block car, with a partial built sheet. 60,000 Original mile car. Body off restoration, finished in it's original color Cortez silver with black leather interior. Beautiful car and a quality restoration. Background: This 1969 Corvette was garaged and not driven from 1976 until the restoration was competed in 1995. The car was raced early in its life, the prior owner did the racing and he died. So information was pieced together on why the car was last titled in 1976 and sat in the garage. The car was purchased from an estate sale; during the restoration project it was learned that the original block was replaced under warranty during the first two years of the car's life. When this car was acquired in 1994 it had 58,000 original miles & its original paint. When the car was media blasted it was confirmed that the car had never been hit, as you will see in the pictures I have listed. I have 150+ pictures documenting the restoration process, and let me tell you, it was done "First Class". The car was finished in its original color Cortez silver & black leather interior. Car has 2000 miles on this restoration. Above is a rundown on what has been done to the car in 1995 (Easier to say everything but where we go...). Restoration details: Car was completely dissembled. Body removed and media blasted down to the gel coat on fiberglass. Frame was sand blasted and repainted with several coats of POR-15. All brake lines & gas lines are stainless steel. Trailing arms and steering box rebuilt to tighter than factory spec's by professional who tutors at Bloomington Gold shows - Mike Allen, Logansport, IN. All calipers and master cylinder were rebuilt and sleeved with stainless steel by Dr rebuild in Ohio. Original components were rebuilt and returned. Motor was dissembled and reassembled by professional GM race motor enthusiast in west Chicago Illinois. Block and heads were processed though H&R engineering in Addison, IL the motor was bored .060" over. Current ignition system is a MSD Blaster with matching tack-drive distributor. Holly carburetor. The paint was computer matched to its original color but done in base coat/clear coat. All wiring harness were replaced with new except dash (due to limited use and years in storage.) New parts include the following; Gas tank & sending unit. Interior Carpet, foam rubber & seat covers (leather). All Door and T-top seal moldings. 5 New tires (Goodyear Eagle GT 4+4). Stainless steel hubcaps and trim rings. Fiberglass mono-leaf rear spring, front, springs, adjustable shocks, and oversized stabilizer bars with polyurethane isolators. All vacuum heater and radiator hoses, heater core, heater blower fan and radiator are new. Wind shield wiper motor and pump Stainless steel luggage rack, door handles - all bumper parts 're-chromed' and new fasteners throughout. All new stainless steel exhaust system including side pipes. Because pictures do not do this car any justice. The car runs and drives like a new car, very fast & with the side exhaust it sounds great. Gets lot's of attention and a very fun car to drive, I listed a video for you to view & enjoy. 60,157 miles from the odometer. March 20, 2010. |
