| 1968 Corvette race car. My father bought this car in 1972 or 73. At the time the car was racing in SCCA in the Mid West. The car started life as a 1968 convertible with radio delete. The car was and is still titled although it was never used on the street. The car was raced for a short time in yellow before it was repainted white with blue and red stipes. Around 1975 the car was completely rebuilt and upgraded. At that time it was painted orange. In 1978 the car was rebuilt again using General Motors wide racing body panels. It also was fitted with a Big block engine. At this time the car was racing in Trans Am and IMSA. About 1981 the car was converted into a coupe in order to race in the 24 Hours of Daytona. The car raced the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1982, 83, 84 and 1985. It was then retired do to a rule change that no longer allowed Big Blocks. The car has track records, podium finishes, and too much history to list. All spare part go with the car. Engines, Trans, Suspention, Body panels, Wheels, tires and more. This car was restored after the 1885 Daytona race and put on jack stands. We recently went through the car and started it. The fuel blatter now needs to be replaced along with the radiator. We have many years of photos, programs, event records and other information to go along with the car. For sale at $89,000. November 17, 2010. |
