| Car history: |
| In 1989 I found the engine in Buffalo, NY in a 1967 Corvette parts car. The engine pad was undisturbed and still retained the correct cylinder heads. I constructed the VIN for a coupe and convertible and found the car registered in Rome, Ga. The owner was contacted and a deal to purchase the car sight unseen was consumated. The car was a sight too...just a crappy old worn out hotrod. However, the frame was never hit and it miraculously retained the original transmission and rearend. Of further interest were the colors....black over gunmetal....a color combination I would later learn is quite rare. I partially restored the car over the next couple of years and subsequently sold it in 1991. The car remained untouched until 2007 when the owner decided to sell. I bought the car back and sent it to Corvettes and Performance Specialties in E. Amherst, NY for an NCRS restoration. The car was completed in 2010 and scored top flight at Gettysburg, Pa. The car was finally delivered to my home in Texas in May 2011. |
