Car history:
This is a beautiful car that has had two owners in 27 years (my dad's until he passed away in 2000, then mine). I hold the title. 4 speed manual transmission, 327 cubic inches/350 hp small block, Original, numbers matching engine NOT in car. Condition is unknown. 42,817 miles. Original, factory air conditioning. Headrests and custom-made speaker headrests (speaker headrests are in car currently but not hooked up). Originally Cordovan Maroon Metallic/black interior; exterior painted Ultra Blue Metallic (very similar to Targa Blue). New carpeting, Kenwood CD player, and Challenger speaker bar in 2006. New Holley carburetor, rotor, distributor cap, fuel filter, valve cover gaskets, BF Goodrich tires, and radiator flushed and sealed in 2005. Frame off restoration in 2000: plugs, wires, water pump, all bolts/frame mounts, bushings, fuel lines. New white soft top in 1997 (original black vinyl hardtop as well). Steering box rebuilt/restored; console gauges cleaned, repaired, and calibrated in 1995. Documentation from 1981 to present.
The negatives: The wipers work, although the vacuum for the wipers is missing--so you have to manually pull back the vent that covers the wipers. I have two sets of rims for the car that are both in fair (read: rust spotted) condition. One set is on the car, the other is boxed. I believe a little steel wool would go a long way. The factory a/c is rare--and the bezel that surrounds the a/c vent in the center console is even rarer, apparently. Both my dad and I searched for years for a replacement (this car is missing one)--they are not reproduced anywhere. I don't think that it detracts from the beauty of the car, but if you're looking to make this Bloomington Gold perfect, you'll be hunting that down. There is occasionally an oil drip once the car is parked. I've yet to figure out where the leak is coming from. It isn't something that is causing a fluctuation in the oil level though. There are pieces in the car, like the center console, that show some wear (mostly by rubbing, but a few scratches). My dad was trying to leave the car as original as possible, so he left many pieces in the car that were original, if imperfect, provided they didn't detract from the car. When I replaced the carpeting, I replaced the rear compartment section and buckets behind the seats. I have not replaced the push buttons that allow for opening the bucket doors though. Please note in the pictures, the faceplate of the cd player is not on, and the white speckles in the picture of the softtop is from the camera. This is not a perfect car, but she shows beautifully and runs well. 42,849 miles. July 14, 2008
