Car history:
427CI/390HP BIG BLOCK WITH FACTORY 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION THAT IS TURN-KEY AND READY TO HIT THE ROAD. Manual steering, Power disc brakes, 4 speed manual transmission, Vintage Cragar SS wheels. Vehicle comes from North Carolina where it has been garage kept and owned by the last owner for a few years. He then moved to upstate NY. This guy wanted all his cars to be spot-on reliable and ready to go, so he invested enough money into this car to make it reliable in any situation. By far one of the BEST 68 Corvettes I've driven in a while as it's very tight and performs beautifully. Recent work included general maintenance & servicing. NEW suspension pieces all over within the last few years. Newly redone brakes in the last 5 years. NEW mufflers. Just a ton of stuff here and there. Interior is in GOOD to VERY GOOD condition with only normal wear here and there. Carpeting is nice & presentable. Seats very nice with no rips that I could see. Door panels are upgrades from 69 and look great and dash pad in very good shape. Indications are that this was a factory big block car when it was built (the original hood is there, along with the console plate stating 427/390hp (460 pounds of torque!), as well as some big block suspension pieces. Tachometer is for a small block and was replaced around the same time the motor was installed, for better accuracy. Currently, the car has a beautifully performing 327ci motor from a 1968 from what I was told (casting #3970010) so it is as close to factory correct for this car as possible. It has been dressed with a high-rise aluminum intake manifold, headers, Holley 4bbl. carburetor, Flex fan, performance camshaft, Offenhouser style vintage aluminum valve covers (RARE!) and lots of chrome accents. Transmission is a Muncie M-21 I believe. Mechanically the car is TURN-KEY. Starts at the turn of the key and runs/drives great. Lots of power and great acceleration as you would expect from a 68 Corvette. Easy to drive and brakes stop the car very well. Not much more I can say, just get in and drive her! Underside is VERY NICE with ROCK SOLID frame and floorboards throughout. VERY NICE windshield pillars and beautiful birdcage. This is a garaged North Carolina car, and it shows. Some small chips/small hairline cracks/small scrapes/couple of tiny dents and general road wear but nothing serious. Paintjob is probably close to 15 years old but being garaged and cared for has held it up very well. Front nose section has some tacking marks starting to show from the underside near the headlight areas which you can only see at close inspection, which is pretty common on these. Not working: wiper compartment cover (needs vacuum lines replaced), e-brake (needs new cable) horn, clock and perhaps a light or two. Couple of the console gauges not working accurately. Passenger door has a slight gap where it meets the rear quarter. Missing rear grills. Some scrapes and touch-ups behind t-tops and behind rear grilles. Ignition switch has been moved under ashtray cover for security. 108,770 miles. Colors from the owner. July 25, 2009.
