Car history:
2) 972 Chevrolet Corvette LT1 Stingray.
Description: Marino Performance Motors is thrilled to announce the arrival of this Chevy Corvette LT1 Stingray finished in Red and wrapped in Saddle leather.
Very little change from previous years, mostly this was the last year for some major things. It was the last year for chrome front bumpers. side bright egg crate
Grills, and the removable rear window. It was also the last year for performance options LT1 and Zr1 packages Both codes were brought back in the 90s, one as an engine model and the other as the King of the Hill Unfortunately, due to emissions and octane requirements, horsepower was down this year but not by as
The specs show. This was the year that horsepower specs were changed from gross to net horsepower. Before 1972, horsepower was measured on a blueprinted engine without any accessories such as the Alternator, A/C ,PS, ect.
In 1972 the engines were rated with all the accessories and the exhaust system which cased the horsepower of the same engine to be rated substantially lower.
The numbers match on this nicely restored LT-1 Corvette.
Equipment: 350 Cubic inch 255 HPLT1 Motor, Chrome Air Cleaner, Holley 4-Barrel Carburetor, 7-Fin Aluminum Value Covers, Power Steering, Power 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, 4 Speed Manual Transmission, Hurst Shifter, Power Door Locks, Aftermarket Am/Fm Stereo, Leather Seats, Aftermarket Steering Wheel, Removable Painted T-Top roof panels, Positraction Rear Axlew/4.10.1 gears, 15 Rally wheels W trim Rings and center caps, BF Goodrich Radial T/A 225/70-r15 Tires, Chrome Rear Deck Luggage Rack. BiN $29,900 (RnM) on August 30, 2016.
1) There is a lot to say about this car. This is the last year with the front and rear chrome bumpers. It has the matching #'s LT1 block which is a rare find. There were only 1,741 of them produced. 1972 was the last year for the removable rear window. The style on the car has not changed to much from the '68 to '72, but the 1972 Corvette is more known for its end of an era. This is what makes it so valued.
