| One owner 1968 corvette convertible PROJECT CAR. I purchased this car from the wife of the man who bought it brand new. The car has sat for a few years since he passed. The car is a 427/390 horse four speed. The engine had been replaced one week after they took delivery with an over the counter engine casting number 3963512 with a CE code which checks out to be a 68/69 replacement engine. The intake is casting #3937793 and the heads are #3931063 with a G/68 date code. The trim tag shows standard black interior and the exterior # is 984/safari yellow. The trans code is P8K15 which is a 4-speed July 15th 1968. The protecto plate has a AZ0716W which is a 355 heavy duty rear end with posi. The car has power brakes. Power steering. Telescopic steering column. Power windows. Astro ventilation. It is a two top car but the canvas on the soft top is no good and the vinyl hard top is missing the inner liner. I have the protecto plate and the owner protection plan book. I am calling this a PROJECT CAR because of the condition of things. It needs paint. The only damage to the body is on the left quarter something has fallen on it and puncture it as shown in the pictures. The chrome needs re chroming. The front bumper is in real nice shape as well as the grills and bezels. the rear bumpers are solid just in need of plating. Dash pad are all in usable shape but the door panels, carpet, rear compartments and seat covers need to be replaced. The drivers side floor board has had the toe board broke (looks like it could be glassed to repair). The frame has got only one bad spot in it which i have never seen it do in this area. On the left side on the engine side of the spring perch it looks like some thing built a nest there and it ate the frame. Possibly from the urine? The frame and suspension is discolored from being out side. Part of my decision to call it a PROJECT CAR. The car does run and stop. As it looks that the engine has had some work done not to long ago but i have no proof of that. 9,134 miles. October 21, 2008. |
