| 01/06/2016 Monterey 2015, Lot F118 Driven fewer than 1,000 miles since its restoration, this 1968 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is a prize winner packing big-block power. Equipped with an eye toward thoroughbred motoring, this restored Rally Red 1968 convertible is equipped with one of the most brutish powerplants of the 1960s, the L71 Tri-Power 435 horsepower 427 big-block V-8. Aside from the racing-tasked L88, this was the most potent of the 427 options, with three Holley two-barrels feeding through an aluminum intake, a hot solid-lifter cam, transistorized ignition and 11.0:1 compression. Backed with a 4-speed manual transmission and 4.11:1 Positraction rear end, the combination was one of the most powerful and sturdy powertrains ever installed in the Corvette to that time, taking performance driving to a whole new level of enjoyment. Finished in correct Rally Red topped with seven coats of clear, the car is offered with both soft top and auxiliary hardtop, a Black interior and new exhaust. It also sports the optional bright metal wire wheel covers on NOS Redline tires, great additions that emphasize the big-block look.
