1969 CHEVROLET CORVETTE CONVERTABLE: Standard trim, 350hp 350ci Turbo-Jet V8, Positraction axle 3.70 ratio, 4 Speed close - ratio Transmission, F70 x 15 White Stripe tires (now white letter), Convertable top black, Auxiliary hardtop, AM/FM pushbutton radio, Soft-Ray Tinted glass, Head restraints, Vinyl roof cover /black, Lemans Blue, Black interior. Above from Corvette Order Copy (included). Health reasons have caused the sale of my pride and joy. This the one that you have been looking for.... or always heard about... This a true 20,000 mile car....unmolested original example of 1960's automobiles...The car has all the numbers matching drive line a 350cu small block 350 hp. ....close ratio 4 speed transmission ...3.73 positraction rear...One owner car....(really 2 owner..When I bought the car and wanted to get insurance, the agent said a single unmarried under 25 years old male. The insurance was going to be very very high, so I titled the car in my mother's name and have the paper work changing title from her name to mine later. One owner but 2 titles I hope that I did not confuse you but really one owner). The reason for the low miles: I bought the car in Jan. of 1969, used it and got married in 1971. The occupation is a vegetable farmer when the weather was nice I was down on the the farm or at market and when it was raining I did not take the car out. Then the kids came along and you know the rest of the story so it just stayed in the garage always insured and tagged. If you contact penndot (PA department of transportation) you can give them the vin number and they will tell you the mileage by year (for a fee) of this car. The inspection sticker is from 2001. also license tag sticker matches (see the pictures). Now let's get back to the car: When I ordered the car from Hassay Chevrolet in Shickshinny PA. in late 1968, and ordered it with side pipes. When it came in 1969 a letter from GM said that they stopped mounting side pipes on corvettes at that time so it had a regular under body exhaust pipes. I ordered side pipes from the parts department and put them on the car ( I still have the parts, the exhaust pipes and mufflers, hangers and the side covers and chrome trim pieces as seen in the pictures ) with the removable hardtop. I put them up in the rafters in the garage (they come with the car). The ONLY BODY WORK on the car was the two holes where the tail pipes came out the back, (done by a professional certified Chevrolet body man). The car has NEVER been hit, smashed. The paint on the car is ORIGINAL except under the rear bumpers. it does have some stone chips, scratches, and some spydering. It might need rear bumpers. slight pitting. a fuel filter or a vacume hose. you know the drill, just c.m.a but for being 40+ years it does show well and has a nice shine. This is the first time that the Corvette saw snow in 40 years...when I took the pictures. But did not drive it in the snow just from the building in the rear of the pictures. The engine is a 350hp 350 ci with only 20k miles on it. The first year for the 350 (now I wish I ordered a big block but hind-sight is 20/20, bigger bucks) but back then when your father says: Why do you need such a big engine? How come you need three carburators, one is not enough for you? You sort of back up and punt and when he saw the price of the car He said: You could have bought a Cadillac!!!! But what 20 year old wanted a Caddie, when he could get a Vette? The engine has the original chrome covers for the ignition and wires but I have replacements for them. All these parts have been sitting on the shelf for years but not the spark plug covers. I was always going to get it back on the road but never got around to it. so here it is: I did not paint the engine block because if you want to show this as a true survivor or want to restore it you won't have to go over my work and have the over spray and think that I am hiding something. The heads have the 2 bumps on the side of the head to show that are true high performance heads. When we took the car out of the garage, I pulled the coil wire and cranked the engine so the oil would come up and it had about 35 lbs oil pressure but found that we had to change the fuel pump and drain the gas and put in fresh gas and it fired right up but I guess it could use a tune up fresh plugs and points. Also included is the smog pump that I took off after I got the car because of the noise it made when you shifted it as the engine reved up and fell between shifts .We changed the master cylinder, we also changed all four brake calipers and pads. I wanted to make sure that it started, ran and stopped. The frame is solid a few scalely rust areas (see pictures) I have not done anything to the bottom of the car it is as found again original... The interior is original, seats, rugs, gauges. it has four speakers mounted behind seats and under dash from an eight track player I had in the car. If you want that also I will include it. The radio is not original but the original AM FM radio is included. Comes with the 4 original keys plus keys for locking gas cap. The car also comes with the original convertible top. It is in good shape for 40+ years but needs a new back window, it has clouded over and I did not want to fool around with cleaning it. I think that a good auto convertible shop can replace the plastic window and keep the top or just replace the top. Also included is the vinyl covered removable hardtop and it is great shape again I put up in the rafters of the garage when not in use and that's where it stayed. The car has some marks where the top touched the flip panel where the convertible top folds into. The tires are 40+ years old these are not repro's, the car came with white line F70-15's Firestones. I replaced them with Firestone F70-15's white letter wide ovals, bias tires. On bias tires the life expectancy was about 20,000 miles, so I guess that replaced the tires before it was parked. The trim rings need some clips on the trim rings I have other clips that I will also include. The chrome side pipe covers are new. I bought them in 1991 at least the newspapers in the box have that date and they have been in the boxes since then. I took the covers off and removed the original ones and replaced the chrome pieces on the original backing plates and remounted them back on the car and it makes the car stand out. Also included are the original T3 headlights. I guess that I replaced the T3's with halogen headlights. I also have the original paperwork, manual, AM FM radio manual, protecto-plate. The first regestration card (with mom's name on it) and an assortment of regestration cards from year to year to prove that the car was always been here, even the original plastic baggie. I never throw anything away. It can be AACA original unrestored class. Maybe you can get your first senior award or can be a father-son project. You won't find a True Survior like this one, with low miles, unmolested, ORIGINAL that hasn't been beaten to hell over the years with many owners, smashed and glued back together. When we the transfer of the title paper work, I will swear and have noterized that the mileage is correct on the speedometer and the car and of the ownership. How many sellers would do that? 20,5?4 miles from the odometer. $25,821 and running. February 18, 2013.
