Car history:
014 restoration completed with NOS and refurbished original components. Original 350 cubic inch LT-1 V8 / 330 horsepower. Original Muncie 4-speed manual transmission. Correct Mulsanne Blue paint. Correct Dark Blue interior. Our sale includes original shipping papers, an original window sticker and an original Protect-O-Plate. Correct optional power steering. Correct optional power disc brakes. Correct posi-traction differential / Correct 3.55 gears. When it comes to historians and purists, Corvette people are some of the most difficult to please. They're a very loyal group which wholeheartedly believes that a lightweight, dramatically styled body behind a high performance, overhead valve V8 is the end all/be all of performance. And since that mindset has produced 62 years of spectacular looking cars, which handily eat the lunch of more expensive exotics from all over the world, it's hard to fault their logic. Professionally restored with a combination of original and NOS parts, this fully documented Stingray is a numbers-matching dynamo that's poised to electrify fans and attract trophies! Looking for a pedigreed classic that s storied, cool and still relatively affordable? Step right up and vet this Vette!
BODYWORK/TRIM: Hailing from GM's shuttered St. Louis assembly plant, this solid C3 is the beneficiary of a high quality, ground-up restoration that was conducted by His Place Inc. of Emmitsburg, Maryland. Utilizing only NOS and refurbished original parts, that meticulous reboot was topped with correct Mulsanne Blue 2-stage, accented with a white hood side stripe and capped with fresh white vinyl. Once that finish was allotted sufficient drying time, its surfaces were sanded and buffed into a ripple-free glow that's virtually as smooth as glass. And today, this top dog Chevy rolls as a spectacular piece of iconic American muscle that's detailed to better-than-new standards.
ENGINE: Tilt the car's hood and you'll find an original, 350 cubic inch LT-1 V8 that hangs a correct 3970010 casting number behind a correct CGZ assembly stamp and matching partial VIN. At the top of the Chevy Orange mill, a correct Holley carburetor rides between a polished and decaled air cleaner and bright, stainless fluid lines. Below that carburetor, a familiar Winters intake funnels a perfect air/fuel mixture in to beefy, cast iron heads, which wear finned Corvette valve covers. When the juice hits the cylinders, a correct transistor ignition system sparks fresh, stainless-sleeved wires while a solid lifter rotating assembly pushes spent gases through cast iron exhaust manifolds. Cooling is provided by a rare aluminum radiator, which rides in front of a correct starter, a correct alternator, a correct water pump and a correct fan assembly. And overall, this Chevy's tidy engine compartment is exceptionally well done; framing items like a factory expansion tank and rare smog pump in clean, Satin Black fenders.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION: Peer under this low-slung roadster and you'll find a pristine chassis that's straight, solid and ready for its close-up. The car's original small block twists torque through an original Muncie 4-speed, which hangs a Muncie (P) M20 (A) assembled on April (D) 15th, (15) 1971 (1) build stamp between a correct 3925661 casting number and matching partial VIN. That Muncie makes good use of a tough posi-traction rear end that's fitted with correct 3.55 gears. Beneath that drivetrain, a fully rebuilt suspension combines optional power steering with tight turns and increased grip. In the middle of the car, an aluminized, true-dual exhaust system pipes spent gases through rear-mounted mufflers and polished stainless tips. At the corners of the car, power-assisted discs ensure quick, drama-free stops. And all that fully sorted hardware rolls on handsome rally wheels, which spin fresh 215/70R15 Multi-Mile Matrix Tourers around dent-free trim rings and turbine center caps.
INTERIOR: Open this Corvette's sculpted doors and you'll find a correct Dark Blue interior that was completely replaced during the car's extensive restoration. At the center of that interior, fresh bucket seats suspend tight covers over correct seatbelts and bright stainless trim. Between those seats, a small console centers a traditional chrome shifter amid clean, color-keyed floor mats. Opposite that console, fade-free side panels point stainless handles at the base of a crack-free dash. And that dash, which features fully rebuilt telemetry, frames a satin-spoke steering wheel and correct pushbutton radio.
